pink69 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid

In the last few years we have seen some awsome gt cars including the BMW V12 LMR , Toyota GT1 and the Porsche 911 evo [and not forgetting the Mercedes aviation car [ CLR] but all these greats have be pulled out of competition never to be sen again. Should manufactures continue the sports cars programmes for longer to get at least 3-4 years of racing out of these models rather than just the 2.

Or will this be a thing of the past?

You have to let the manufacturers decide. The smart ones will stick around for longer to get the most marketing opportunites, and those are the ones who will work with the series for corss promotion. The ones who go in for a quick win and leave, you don't want hanging around anyways, cause they'll always be the "hangers on," perpetual consumers instead of producers, just using the series to promote themselves, but not realizing the benefits of promitng the series to accomplish that very goal . Even though it might lower the car count, it's still better for the long term health of the series to attract the companies truly committment to their programs

If you want comitment then you just have to look to the GT 2 and GT3 classes. The Vipers and the Porsche 911's have been in operation for over 5 years and they are still racing , while the 996's are still going strong in the GT3 class.
