Since you clearly know nothing about my car, I'll educate you.

It is a rivet perfect copy of a car the Frazer Nash works produced for the 1928 TT utilizing many original parts. The chassis, running gear and body are to exact pre-war specification using all the same materials including a very heavy ash frame fabric body, cable 10" brakes, std chassis frame and axles.
The only current deviation from the original car, which no longer exists in this form, is that I run it with a vintage Meadows engine (rather than super charged Anzani), which is clearly highly developed with new internals etc, as all other quick prewar cars also have, and the engine is 1750 cc rather than 1500. As such when ever I compete with the VSCC in this car I enter it as a special. Many Anzani engined cars were converted to Meadows in period.

Most people just compliment this unwieldy and unlikely 'race' car which is really quite scary to drive for being driven quickly.
As John correctly states chain drive Nashes have a big advantage in the wet as they have no differential. Had it been dry, Swift & I would have been no where near the podium.

You would be welcome to come and inspect it for yourself and if you are very unlucky, take it out for a test drive....
I love the car and the way it handles on track, spectacular to watch. Pre war or the later GP voiturettes are really a thing I'd like to try.

For the uneducated - what is the difference between historic and vintage, and why would the 'John Whitmore Trophy 2021' cars not be relevant to a historic motorsport thread?

App. K provides dating periods up to 1993 (AFAIK) for cars competing in international historic events?

I seem to recall a video re the Owlet where it might have been yourself (PBE) quoting Nick after his first drive of the car as to saying something along the lines of the most hideous driving experience he had ever had and one he hoped to never have to repeat....

Some of the works competition cars did indeed run Duplex. I own the works Fane single seater and this is all duplex. The simplex chain we can get these days is much stronger than in the vintage years and breakages are rare and usually as a result of clumsy or brutal gear changes. Being dog engagement its quite easy to be abusive as the gear change is as fast as you can move the stick. Fortunately I've never had one try and escape upwards through the wooden floor boards but I do occasionally stare down at the transmission in awe that the only thing between it and my behind is a flimsy bit of oil soaked wood!

Well it is an interesting vehicle not to mention the FRazer Nash story as a whole. According to Chain Drive to Turbocharger by the late Denis J, it started life as chassis 1204, with an sv Anzani engine in May 1928. First owner was Mrs E Burt and it was indeed built for the 1928 TT. Original Reg was YW 9099 which was later changed to DNV 951.

Moving on, I understand your speciality is the Meadows engine and the first Meadows powered "Frash" was a special three seater Chassis 1221 in Sept 1929.

Again the info. comes from the aforementioned book published in 1984.

Was fantastic to watch this on the live stream over the weekend.. One of my Favourite books at the moment is the AFN Story written by DSJ.. What a fantastic story it is..

I was expecting one of the Cobras to be my track highlight on Sunday, but instead it was this car. Don't think I have ever seen a car have understeer and oversteer three times in the same corner!

A bit like those Kenner rip cord cars from he 70's with one wheel in the middle, when you let go they went anywhere!

I'm guessing that it would have been a similar car that MH drove on public roads from Paris to Rouen since no transport was available for him to get to the next race. One of the wonderful anecdotes from Hawthorn's biography - Challenge me the race. Some of the stories from the likes of Nuvolari, Fangio, Moss and Hawthorn never fail to amaze me in their reading. If my memory serves MH drove the car following a road car down to Rouen before he signed for Ferrari and after an engine rebuild in Paris.
