Really looking forward to this, while the v8s will always have a special place in Australian motorsport, a more affordable, more relevant class with some big names and manufacture interest will be a huge step forward.

I’m an Alfa man at heart so hoping Jimmy and Dylan have a good showing. My pick for a winner though… Alex Rullo or Will Brown will be hard to beat.

Really looking forward to getting around the Shannons Nationals and TCR this weekend. Great news for Australian motorsport

It does seem we have a lot of names who have been regular motorsport supporters but perhaps priced out by Supercars. I love the fact that there are some great FMCG names in there. That's what we need.

I'm heading out tomorrow (not the whole day) but can't find the schedule online anywhere. Does anyone know where it can be found? And if anyone from TCR is reading, it shouldn't be this hard to find the schedule for the day in the year 2019!!

Looking at the times, Kelly Racing seems to be carrying their form over from Supercars.

Or have they sold their drivers and sponsors a whole fleet of Krates?

P2 kicks off in an hour.

Hopefully drivers will have found some sped and bunch the field up a bit.

With only 10 tyres for the weekend, I suspect Mr Almond won't be a factor on Sunday afternoon.

I disagree Umai, a decent TCR car will run all 3 races on one set of rear hard compound Michelin tyre's, and I also very much doubt that there will be any real gain on using new sticker, hard compound front tyre's for each race.

We used the medium compound Hankook on our TCR Hyundai in the 3 hour at Pukekohe, and the rear tyre's did the whole 3 hours and still looked in good condition.

We changed the front at just under 2 hours, for 2 new sticker tyre's, and after 1 hour's running they looked hardly worn.

Cheers,

Mark.

Was good to watch there today, lots of variety in the cars and drivers. I dunno, it felt like the beginning of something there today. I might be wrong but I reckon this series has real legs, particularly if you can get bigger fields. If people can see value in racing the SuperUtes, this series is a no brainer.

Certainly! The market relevance to hot hatches that people actually drive is great.

While V8 Supercars are supposed to represent road going V8 sports sedans, the 400kg lower weight of the race cars to road going thing is not very realistic.

4 different manufacturers in the top 5 and a top 10 as close as you would see in Supercars. Very good first qual showing for the series, great to see.

Let's hope we get some good racing now.
