Karl Kling should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
How about Bentley, are they gonna drop Le Mans after 2003? They were running a three year program and this is their last year. Does anyone know?

Bentley are supposed to step down for the return of Audi. If Audi did not return, which seems unlikely, Benltey would probably stay on as they wish to do.

Mayby we could see customer Bentleys such as the Audi UK/Japan Audis etc.

That's what I'd like to see : customers buying some efficient cars (Audis, Bentleys - imagine a red Bentley !), and new factories involved in new prototypes...

A red Bentley would be fantastic!

But what's the point in buying a car that's not competitive? I mean, If Bentley doesn't develop the Speed 8 into an LMP1 for 2004 who wants to race a car with 10% less power.

Maybe a privateer can convert the car for 2004 rules. It can't be that difficult, or does it need new crash tests and stuff like that? (I have to read the rules...)

BTW does an LMGTP 2003 have to run on narrower tyres 2004?

LMGTP/LMP900 regs will be identical in 2004 even diwn to cockpit dimensions hence the rumours that most manufactuers will opt for a LMGTP in 2004 and onwards.

Don't forget the 2004 cars will probaably, initially, be a little slower on high downforce circuits as they will have about 30%? less downforce and 10% more drag.

However the drag levels will probably be reduced with development by the time of the 2004 LM race while outrght downforce is not an issue at LM as the cars run in low downforce spec anyway.

if Lister can convert there 2003 car to 2004 regs, and maybe make it into a coupe, I see no reason why a privateer could not do the same with a Benltey, or just run it in 2003 spec.

FYI to all Concerning Closed vs Open Cockpits:

Go to the Official Le Mans site to the "Articles" Section and read the "Racing For Holland" article...

Andy Wallace is interviewed in thepiece, and he has interesting things to say about the Dome as well as about closed-cockpits...

Give me a Spyder....
