John on the TV

This evening, the North West News on ITV actually realised that there is such a thing as touring cars and we got all of about 30 seconds about John and the B&Q team. Great stuff you might think, some TV coverage for the Touring Cars, and a production team at that. Well, maybe so, but no mention of the other teams / drivers from the North West and to put this into perspective, the NW Tonight feature on the competition to 'Eat a Doughnut without licking your lips' was on for a couple of minutes.
Second class TV coverage for the BTCC again

Hi Carrie, what you don't know is that the Granada TV team turned up today and spent two hours filming!! I wanted to make sure that they interviewed at least all of the North west drivers in our team, so I arranged with Jo for her to take a couple of hours off work, the guys who came to do it were great they interviewed Jo, Nick and me plus filming the cars, pits etc. Imagine how we felt tonight when we crowded the whole team around the TV and got about 3 seconds of the whole thing. But I guess thats showbiz!!! But I also think that it is great that they could at least be bothered to come and get involved and if you had seen the whole thing, I know Jo, Nick, and I really tried to push the BTCC. Anyone coming to watch would probably see more interesting racing in the first 4 corners than a whole season of some other sports.

I figured that would probably be the case John. The number of times we have film crews in the Mill. They spend a full day or afternoon with us, filming all over and then we see it cut to just a few seconds, so I know exactly what it will have been like. Always seems very sad and disappointing for the people who've spent a long time and worked hard with the film crew, but that's the way it goes I guess.
Yes, it was great that they filmed you, but as I said, it was the doughnut competition afterwards that really annoyed me!

At least you appeared on the news!!!

Once I've seen the BTCC 'appear' on Scotland Today, a small mention, but just who is Ivan Muller, according to the newsreader????

I'll try and arrange some choccy for the weekend. What with Dano and his Minstrels, it's become something of a tradition

A missed opportunity...................

As far as I can see, what we had here was a missed opportunity.

A simple change of surname could just be the thin end of the wedge. There's always a good opportunity for hyphenation, and asscociate one off sponsorship.

John 50p-for-a-bag-of-three B&Q could surely have been exploited by the local bakers, who could then insist that the amusing TV piece off the back of the team interview involved JBQ himself attempting the doughnut challenge.

It would have made spectacular TV........

It takes a very special devious mind to think of something like that.

Ahhh, a bit of sponsorship exploitation never did any harm did it?!

When the circus (meaning the BTCC!) come to Snetterton you can't get the local news to shut up about it!
It always involves some daft reporter following it up with some story about the tiniest village in the area which only has room for one house in though.

not that East-Anglia's a bit on the quiet side....
hahahaha!!

- got bad urge for next motor sport event. I'm starting to miss (?!?) Alan's voice!
(god - i wish i knew how to do those faces you old hands add to your posts! - i promise to learn soon!)

Thanks!

Thanks for the sympathy! I'm missing my voice too - for some odd reason laryngitis set in on Monday at Rockingham, and I've been without a voice ever since! Those that are around me are delighted - a little peace and quiet!

As far as Rockingham’s doughnuts are concerned - I know EXACTLY how much they cost, as I was unable to walk past the aroma from said stand without parting with a couple of quid! Six for two quid - which makes three for a quid, which sadly doesn't rhyme. "50p-for-a-bag-of-three" does rhyme, and I therefore thought comedy through rhyme over accuracy.

I quote "artistic" licence as my excuse for the technical inaccuracy, and offer my apologies to all concerned.....including the doughnut vendor. And indeed, doughnut vendors up and down the country, as I appear to have knowingly undersold their product in the name of entertainment.

I’m not well, by the way. Did I mention that?

That's odd, it was 5 for £2 on Monday (or 7 for £2.50). Do you get staff discount?
