It's a great looking car. I said it before but DTM should use this sort of cars. Why not a TC2 rule set (GT2 rules but for 4 door saloon cars)? Or using GT2 cars for DTM (Ferrari 430, Porsche 911, BMW M3, Audi R8, Mercedes SL)


I expect BMW will enter WTCC next season (And take revenge on SEAT; If they leave now they look like bad losers ) before switching to FIA GT/LMS in 2010 (currently it's not allowed for factory teams to enter FIA GT, but from 2010 it is allowed). It's confirmed Rahal Letterman will run the Beemers in ALMS next season. They get probably support from BMW Motorsport (Schnitzer) but it's unlikely Schnitzer enters under the Rahal Letterman banner. So the WTCC teams are available to enter WTCC, except maybe RBM (BMW UK) who maybe switch to BTCC. For marketing reasons I don't understand why BMW UK didn't enter BTCC before.

I seriously doubt that livery will be used in a race

@FIRE: Thought about that too. The problem with GT2 rules is that you limit yourself to RWD cars. You could of course allow conversions, but that wouldn't be cheap to build either.

BMW may as well enter DTM, perhaps in 2010 when the new generation cars will race. As people have mentioned, the rules are certaintly against BMW. Seat are enjoying a huge advantage, yet when BMW were, people were far more angry.

Also, the other car makers in WTCC are not BMW's showroom rivals. Where's Mercedes-Benz and Audi in DTM, are BMW's showroom rivals - the premium brands. It would be like Hyundai entering the GT2 class in ALMS, Ferrari, Porsche, BMW, Corvette....Hyundai - the odd one out!

It's not that cars with the power that is expected from DTM car be FWD anyway.

I must admit, I agree with BMW.

Hopefully the organisers will sort the rulebook out!

A part of me cannot help but also think that. I am no fan of either RBM, Schnitzer or ROAL but athough a lot of why I find the WTCC confusing is because their is no one clear set of guidelines regading something which I find hard to understand anyway (the mechanical asspects of what constitutes as the legit WTCC racer), fact is whether or not I understand it even I can see that the mechanical spec and the penalty ballast regs seem to be all over the place. It changes from time to time.

If their was one clear set of guidelines regarding the pentalty ballast issue and what car is supposed to run to what specs and regs then I see it picking up support.
