Just heard that the Winton circiut in northern victoria has suffered a fire overnight in their old starters building. so far it is believed to be an electrical fault that has completely destroyed the building and about $350,000 worth of racing history from the track including photo's trophies and alot of other memrobilia (sp)..this is a complete tragedy for the track wich is struggling to hold onto its V8 date for 2001 and they have spent thousands of dollars upgrading the track and surrounding spectators and competitor facilities..the old building was due to be moved to the new section of track in few months so thats not the greatest loss but the loss of all the tracks history is a devastating blow for our local racing community.

Gees...that is really shocking...what a shame...i dont know if it is lucky or what that they are building a new tower anyways...but still the old one was going to remain in use...

I have heard that it isn't quite that bad. While there is some damage it isn't completely destroyed. Even so it is still a shame.

The old tower was to be used for anything using the short circuit so it was still going to be used often.
