You just beat me to it!
Encouragingly there's absolutely no suggestion here that the car won't be available to customers as Murphy Bear has hinted. Nice looking car too. Plain carbon-fibre black really does look a lot meaner than DHL yellow. |

Also Here in English
http://www.americanlemans.com/News/Article.aspx?ID=2559 "Fitted with mandated air restrictors, the 3.4-liter, 90-degree, V8 racing engine developed by Porsche for long-distance events produces 503 bhp, an increase in output over the former model by 23 bhp. The weight of the car is also in line with the ACO Regulations, with the new RS Spyder weighing in at exactly 775 kilos or 1709 lb. The sequential six-speed gearbox with its three-plate carbon-fiber clutch is fitted in length-wise and is integrated into the chassis as a load-bearing component. Gears are shifted directly from paddles on the steering wheel. Porsche has upgraded the gearbox for the forthcoming racing season with the primary objective to make the gearshift even more reliable, smoother and less demanding on all the components involved, and at the same time even more precise. This prototype sports car is based on a carbon-fiber monocoque chassis, with double wishbone track arms for the front wheels attached to the ultra-stiff and light body structure. The double wishbones at the rear, in turn, are fastened to a carbon-fibre element bolted on to the transmission housing. Torsion springs and pushrod-operated four-way gas pressure dampers, as well as bending-leaf anti-roll bars, round off the suspension of the RS Spyder modified for even faster and more precise handling in 2007. The brakes feature double master cylinders, variable brake force distribution and inner-vented carbon-fiber discs measuring 380 millimetres or 14.96" in diameter on the front axle and 355 millimetres or 13.98" at the rear. The racing tires for this prototype come from Michelin as a Porsche's partner included from the beginning in the development of the RS Spyder. " |

Damn CF black, makes it impossible to recognise any minute changes! Or perhaps they are trying to hide that...

I was wondering what a cross between a C65 and a Radical would look like. |

Stunning. I see that it has a few aero protrusions ala F1.
Edit: To the rule conscious, is that an airfoil? http://www.endurance-info.com/2007_A...er_2007_13.jpg Last edited by jhansen; 28 Sep 2006 at 14:38. |

I would say Sebring. That's when the teams that have placed orders for them will have them sorted out and prepped.
The real interesting part will be who gets them, on both sides of the atlantic. |

From this shot (http://www.endurance-info.com/2007_A...er_2007_12.jpg) on the other side, it looks quite neutral. |

odd looking beast this one, looks very futuristic but personally it doesnt look as nice as the current RS spyder looks far too fiddly and itty bitty but should be a match for the audi R10's on any track now bar lemans and monza

Agreed choc ice, regarding the odd look. I like the headlights better than those on the '06 car, perhaps a cue from Porsche road cars, but all the fiddly flappy bits are plain ugly. And what's going on with the 'beak'?

i noticed that little "winglit" (loosly used for now) it looks like it might produce maybe a little downforce. but maybe its like (get ready for formula 1 reference) the viking horns on the Mclearen or on the fornt of the renault were they use these little "winglits" not to add downforce, but to stabilize the car while cornering or shape the air as it goes through the air at a certain angle to help produce more downforce on other parts of the body. maybe?

I think the winglet is actually for bodywork regulation purposes. MulsanneMike aludes to such parts, but not specifically that part, in 07 RS Spyder story in the News section of his website.

Which is not to say the RS isn't lovely and should (easily) win everything provided the up-and-down & roundy-round bits hold together, but you do need a large pot of vaseline to be willing to accomodate the Porsche AG pineapple. |

From LMSR.net
"Porsche sez today there will be six customer RS Spyder LMP2 chassis available for sale for both the ALMS and LMS in 2007. Announcements will come in the team's time." So we have 8 Spyders racing next year. |
