Malcolm Smith should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
8th October

Thirteen cars attended the final event of 2017 in fine autumnal weather at Knockhill. Fastest in qualifying and winner of race one was Tommy Gilmartin, Morgan +8. Alistair Baptie raced his MGBV8 into second qualifying position and won the second race from Gilmartin.
Harry Simpson was third fastest qualifier and third in each race in the nimble Ginetta G4R.
Welcome returnee, Andy Smith, Morgan +8, had epic battles in each race with Raymond Boyd, Porsche 911. The Morgan just ahead in each contest.
The increasingly competitive Lotus Europa of Bruce Mitchell was sixth in each race.
Further back there was close racing amongst the Ford Escorts of Jimmy Crow and Max Horne, the Capri of Ian Blacklin and Mario Ferrari’s Alfa Sprint Trofeo.
MG Midget driver Ian Longstaffe retired at the start of race one but managed to repair his car to complete race two. Sadly, mechanical difficulties sidelined the Mini Clubman GT of William Conway.

Another entertaining season, albeit with often low entries. Scottish Motor Racing Club are looking at ways of boosting numbers for next year.

Good luck next year.

I do like that Ginetta and the Alfa. Very pretty.

Love seeing a 1500 Sud Sprint fighting hard with a Capri with an engine twice the size!
