It's funny - actually it's not funny at all - but I, like a lot of people, have a fear of heights. I am not good at climbing ladders, etc. and would not, for the life of me under normal circumstances, get in one of those cherry pickers. I have enough trouble watching something on the screen, big or small, like a helicopter or a camera drone flying over a cliff, yet I have no problems getting in a ski chair lift on the mountain and looking down at the ground which might be more than 100 feet below. And last time I went skiing, the chair lift machinery broke down and the absolute stranger sitting next to me and I, plus everyone else before and after us on the lift, were stuck there for nearly two hours.

It's all in the mind,I know, but as I love skiing, the chair lift is often the only way to get up to the top and if you don't do that, then you don't ski. Mind you, I learnt to ski in Norway starting in 1951 at the age of 4 1/2, and back then they didn't have lifts of any kind where I skied, so if you wanted to ski down you first had to climb up either sideways on or in a herringbone style. Whichever, it was bloody hard work and with the short daylight hours in the winter, you only got a few goes downhill.

And this is why we can never have nice things, yup, that windshield is smashed in and in the driver's vision. Yes, we were at a full stop.

What a beast. What's the engine in that? From the length of the bonnet I assume it's something about 28-30 litres?

I mentioned it before but in the early 80s I hired a car through Alamo when we toured around Florida for about 3 1/2 weeks and I eventually ended up with a station wagon not dissimilar in size to that one although it had a wooden structure on the outside.

I loved the days when you could just chop off the rear and extend it over the trunk and call it a wagon! I guess tops like that today wouldn't pass a crash test, but those cars were so heavy you'd probably not end up on your roof!
