So Penske withdrew their protest when they were shown to have exceeded track limits as well. There's a laugh.

So DJRTP did protest but rescinded when they realised they would lose their own lap...

Couple of rookies had issues but none at turn 8.

The whole thing recks of amateur hour on all fronts, except it took them 2 1/2 hours to run the laps and then make a decision. No wonder the current manufactures are leaving, and no new ones want to join...........

That kind of thing is pretty standard with most governing bodies though. You would be profusely face-palming if you dealt with the ACO on things like this.

Just watched the first race, were there any other cars racing than the T8 trio, Skaife and Crompo seemed to talk about no-one else. Already tired of the amazing bias towards this mob.

Safety Cars only after strategies done and dusted.

SVG very good with the strategy, despite a bad start. I assume that Courtney has a particular set-up for this circuit, and it seems fitting well on the ZB too.

Reynolds a bit rough on J-Dub, maybe a penalty would have been fair. But I have to say that David will be effectively a man to be considered this year, not for the title but surely for interesting results.

Bad race for the rookies. But I think that Stanaway will be going well this year.

what improvments are we expecting, motor the same, chassis the same, aero defined by parity. better movement of the weight?

The RBHRT cars complained of understeer throughout the race, clearly there is some work to do on aero/chassis setup to stop the impact of that...

Disappointed it seems Will D didn't take advantage of the strategic play at the first pit stop.

So 9 out of 10 exceeded track limits in the top ten shootout - who's the unlucky bugger who did the right thing?

It seems farcical doesn't it. "There were a lot of drivers breaking the rule so we didn't enforce it" seems to be the reasoning.

The problem is if you follow the rule book, stand your ground and receive fan backlash at least your foundation is solid. When you pick and choose what to enforce not only is it unjust, but you give oxygen to some absolute nutters (not too mention taking a couple hours to work it out).

Are they trying to create drama? I could at least understand it all if that was the case

Aero parity measures are very simplistic and are limited to drag / downforce in a straight line.

Meantime, BJR threaded Mr Blanchard’s car back together overnight, taking a similar time to repair to Mr Whincup’s...

...however there are no news stories about it from anyone outside the team/sponsor outlets....

Maybe Cooldrive should become a site sponsor of the usual place...

the difference between a 7-time champion athlete smiting the wall in a vainglorious and dramatic fashion as he chases the fastest time in the dying minute of qualifying... and some bloke in a Commodore getting cut off in Adelaide traffic by some sheila in a Nissan?

Agree

Except there are no other news stories up this morning

The ‘journos’ are all there with their lattes and croissants... watching... yet a quick 300 word news story, some pics you can take with an iPhone, seems to be beyond them...

What else are we missing out on?

Symptomatic of the malaise within the media right across the board. They're like fruiterers, except they only specialise in product of the low-hanging variety. Would Tom Howard's piece on the panel thing (Panelgate?) ever have happened without Ryan Story's comments to camera yesterday?

We'll just have to wait for Cromley to tell us about it later.

On a street circuit the outer limits for corners like that should be just the wall.
