not me , but im interested to know if there is any changes to the track at all this year ???

I still think the track is terrible and way to narrow so was wondering if they have improved anything at all for this years event ?

I do not think they have changed the track at all. Last year they took the barriers out of the gutters and put them on the curbs. Since they have done that I do not think they can make the track any wider.

So sorry no changes. I do not think they even resurfaced it this year (they did last year).

I think Holden turn has been resurfaced and the barriers on the outside of the corner have been pushed back around 50 metres.

I'm working as a Corporate Facility Usher at S34, which is just before Commonwealth Avenue bridge, turn 14. I'll be there all 3 days.

The last 100m of State Circle have been resurfaced, becuase drivers didn't like braking side-by-side down there, because there was a bump in the road.

Nah - eldest (Tim) was going to come with me but as I am driving up Sat and back eithe rSun night or Mon he has decided to stay home. He is still on L's and NSW law makes it pointless taking him to drive as he isn't allowed to do more than 80 on a freeway - when I rang about this they said (and I kid you not) - 'Well don't take him on the freeway - use other roads!!!!' (No alternates to the Hume any more....)

No 2 will be coming up with me at the end of the month for the Wakefield All British Weekend (he doesn't have his L's yet...)

Do these laws still apply, I believe that with the introduction of national road rules, the 80km/h on L plates limit went out the window. I know that the 80 km/h towing limit was canned, I got it in writing from the RTA.

Learners aren't permitted to tow ANYTHING! In either Vic or NSW. As to national laws - dunno - I rang the NSW RTA today and got told about the 80 k limit which IMHO is too bloody dangerous - how the hell is a learner supposed to get experience on a freeway by only doing 80k???? Then the day after they get their licence they are magically OK to do 110....

I was referring to the towing speed limit as an example of a NSW rule which went out the window, with the introduction of National Road rules, I wasn't suggesting that learners had a towing speed limit.

I believe it is dangerous to have one group of motorists obeying one speed limit and everybody else having another, surely it is safer to have us all travelling at the same speed?

In Canberra, there is no speed limit for L plates. You also can't drive with a trailer on your L's.

Don't worry about it - the Cops probably don't know it's a law either.

Everytime I have to renew my shooters licence at the local Police Station I end up having to teach them the rules.

I even had to explain to one officer what the difference is between rimfire and centrefire - and also the legal magazine capacity for certain firearms !

Or when I handed in a couple of guns during the buy back I handed over a semi-auto stainless Ruger 10/22 and the female office behind the counter said "Oh that's a pretty one - what are you handing that in for ?".

Sorry I got sidetracked there...but anyway what I'm trying to say is that the cops probably don't know about the trailer laws either.

Cheers, Buck.

Doesn't matter now, because with National road rules, the speed limit is the same regardless of whether or not you are towing a trailer.
