great to see we have a speedway forum up and running...welcome to Andy as the moderator.
first of the rank is a question as to what everyones favorite speedway racing is? mine is with out a doubt Sprint car racing. oodles of horsepower..acceleration as good as an F1 car and all this on dirt..favorite drivers are limited to aussies Brooke Tatnell and Kerry Madsen ..but have had the pleasure of seeing the great Steve Kinser race at our local speedway and he blew everyone away..totally awesome.. sprint car racing to me is without a doubt the best speedway racing there is ..but someone else may have a different opinion ?? |

We have a few amazing and famous old tracks. The Springfield Mile at The Illinois State Fairgrounds comes to mind as the Daytona of Grand National bike racing. Imagine the speed a 500cc ultralight bike can make on a one mile flat track with very fast corners. Another event is the TT circuit at Peoria, Illinois. The TT track is shaped like a kidney bean with a large jump on the inside curve. The riders actually land with the bike in a slide and one boot down to balance it. Awesome stuff.
Racers like Jay Springsteen, Scott Parker, Nicky and Tmmy Hayden and a host have kept the interest alive for the last decade. What are the predominant bikes raced in European Speedway? in the States it is dominated by Harley-Davidson and Honda. |

Heavy stocks, without a doubt, cars are 1400-1500kg,max motor size 3.9 litre, and they still manage to get 400hp+ out the good ones.
But the best of all is that it is a full contact class, the only thing you can't do is push cars off the ends of the straights, anywhere else its anything goes. Street stock would be next, another contact class (one in which i've raced) but using your any day family sedan, similar to a demo derby, except only over 5 laps and they patch them back up for the next weekend. |
