I think Nissan just got caught out and are now lagging behind engine wise. The base shape they can’t do much about, but they can do other things with the car, just need to look in the right areas. Otherwise they will be left behind

can't find the post but some time ago japanese samurai showed a comparative pic where toyota/lexus cars were the ones with fastest average refuel time, followed by honda and nissan the slowest one. It was clear that toyota and honda needed to consume less fuel than nissan to cover the same lenght stint. Don't think things changed in the meantime and for sure nissan has still the worst efficient engine, paying something about power and fuel mileage.
Honda and Toyota surely shifted a lot of know how from F1 and WEC, that's why wondered why renault can't do the same with nissan.

Super GT File magazine ver.8 contents outline <Part.5>

GR Supra GT300
*Saitama Toyopet has a damper tester in its factory. GR Supra uses Ohlins' through-rod type damper.
*Takayuki Hiranuma (Saitama Toyopet CEO) says that the development of JAF-GT required a big amout of cost that was not comparable to that of MC.
*The Mark X MC used an air conditioner, but it was unreliable, so the GR Supra GT300 adopted cool suit system.
*In tech regulations, air should not flow above the rear diffuser, but air after brake cooling can be exhausted to the rear of the tire house. So the left and right opening on the rear diffuser is legal.

If you have a draggy car it's not going to do any wonders for your fuel efficiency either. The production GT-R is actually supposed to have a really low Cd and the frontal area is pretty equalized though, but still that big inset grille on top of the bumper doesn't look like it's doing any favours for downforce or drag in silhouette car form. Also take some note about how the low width and rounder corners of the road Supra gives them a much bigger free area for the front fender flares.

Nissan says that Class one plus alpha regulation is aerodynamically advantageous depending on how much the shape recedes from the center to the left/right side of the front nose.
GTR has a horizontal edge from the bumper corner to the bottom of the headlights.
As a result, the degree of freedom in the developing area presented to the wind on the upper surface of flick box is lower than rivals by scaling.

Well that's how the rules are and so you really need a model that has the right aerodynamic shape. Sometimes if the manufacturer doesn't have the right model, you can't really do much about it. Obviously they can make a few tweaks, but there is only so much you can do within the rules and really concentrating more on the inside of the car sometimes is the best way to go

honestly don't think nissan issues are all depending by drag; also before dtm specs introduction in 2014, lexus SC430 was the car with highest top speed but nissan was however competitive enough for overall win unlike now.

Inside of upright parts of Lotus Evora GT300 (unified parts of mother chassis car).
It has a push-rod connection point (right). In other words, it is an evolution suspension (Japanese-English:Evo-sus, En:Pushrod On Upright, POU).

Really hopeful this will be the major boost for the team. Lately RC F GT3 doesn't fared well especially after #96 switched from BS to Michelin.

According to regulations, JAF-GT300 has to maintain the monocoque of the base vehicle in the cabin area (from front bulkhead to rear bulkhead).
And a roll cage (tubular frame) must also be used.
Therefore, JAF-GT300 consist of a hybrid structure of the monocoque of the base vehicle and the original tubular frame.

I understand the logic, but it's such a shame GT300 went more GT3 instead of GT3 going more GT300. Just look how awesome those cars care!

thanks for the info, it's not that different than old FIA GT1 regs.
If am not wrong supra gt300 is powered by the rcf 5.5L V8, don't know how powerful is due gt300 bop, but with 500-520hp should be way faster than a gte

Obviously the only change should be the name. We'll see if the corners and other things associated with Hitachi change too. Great brand name that has been in Japanese motorsport a long time

Yeah it was a bummer. I started watching Super GT races back in 2011 when they had the Shiden, the Garaiya, the Corolla Axio and many more.

After watching Round 6, looks like the GT500 class championship is heating up as the Top 5 pairs have a chance of winning it in Round 7.

Meanwhile, the Leon AMG pair is strong in GT300, although it's nice that Goodsmile Racing got a podium finish at Suzuka.

Race day press conference by GTA (Masaaki Bandoh) <Part.1>
https://supergt.net/news/single/20475
https://www.as-web.jp/supergt/638327?all

About relaxation of the upper limit of the number of spectators
*Even in the seventh round, we plan to limit the number of spectators and take measures to keep out of the paddock.
*Whether or not to increase the number of spectators in the eight rounds will be examined from now on.
*I am aware of the relaxation of the spectator limit for professional baseball, but in SGT, the spectators move around the circuit, so it cannot be processed in the same way.

About PCR test
*There are no plans to perform the PCR test again at this time.

About 2021 GT500 machine development freeze
*Consent was obtained from three manufacturers regarding the 2021 vehicle development freeze aimed at cost reduction.
*We are currently in the process of considering what and how to freeze.
*In addition, GTA will control the tests from the end of this season to the start of next season.
The number of tests conducted will be reduced by half last year.
*The extent to which the development freeze in 2021 will be lifted in 2022 will be decided based on the situation up to the fourth round of 2021.

About Class one regulations
*SGT will apply the Class One regulations until 2023.
*The new regulations will be applied from 2024.
*The outline of the new vehicle regulations will be decided by the end of next year.

By the way, not a good day for the Saitama Toyopet Team as the GreenBrave Supra crashed out at Suzuka. This would affect their standing in the GT300 championship.

Autosport web is reporting why Subaru BRZ lost victory.
https://www.as-web.jp/supergt/638612?all

*Subaru had worse fuel economy than expected and had to run at least 22-23 laps in first stint.
*Suzuka is likely to be interrupted by SC, so the minimum pitstop is advantageous for the first stint.
However, Subaru couldn't do that because of poor fuel economy.

(The fuel tank capacity of the JAF-GT300 will increase from 100 liters to 120 liters next season.)
