historic racers at Sebring
not strictly historic but worth noting that regular ten-tenths contributor Roger Wills is doing rather well at Sebring with fellow historic racer Shaun Lynn, in testing yesterday they were second in class.
"Patrick Bornhauser, Julien Canal and Michele Rugolo were the GTE-AM leaders with a 2:04.631 (106.875 mph) in the Larbre Competition Chevrolet Corvette C6.R followed by Pierre Ehert, Shaun Lynn and Roger Willis at a 2:07.561(104.421 mph) in the CRS Racing Ferrari F430." lifted from the official website. I am sure all here will join me in wishing Rog and Shaun the very best of luck this weekend. |

They had a Historic Meeting last week. Not very clever.
As a spectator flat and can't see much.As a drivers circuits some interesting technical bits.It really is an old airfield,no great spectator facilities and no pits as we know them. The 12 hrs is the most important event in US Road Racing.Big crowd from all over States. Roger and Shaun deserve to do well because the pair of them get on with it and all forms of racing need people like them. Not bad blokes either.Going to Sebring later today to see whats happening . |

Don't think Alamo will take kindly to me standing on roof of an Impala.
Should have stayed on diet. |

I'm sure its better there than in pictures . . . a supermarket car park looks more interesting (from a very safe distance as well!)

Good luck to Roger and Shaun- doing something I'm sure a lot of us wouldn't mind a go at, given ability and funds!
John, somehow 'diet' and being in USA don't seem compatible! |

Do they still have that sign at the gate saying "no guns allowed"?

Good lord... and people ask me why I never attended motorsport events back home!
Slightly different "clientele" I would say though to be fair I suspect ILMC and Historics are a bit more civilized. Civilized meaning not like walking onto the set of "Dukes of Hazzard" that is. |

Greetings from Sebring.
I was rather humbled to find this thread. We had a mixed day. Free practice was ok but we had a handling issue and Pierre didn't manage to record a decent time in qualifying. We are last in class on the grid but it is a very long race. Most teams have 1-2 pros and 1-2 amateurs whereas we are 3 amateurs. The 3 of us have reasonably close lap times to each other where some of the other amateurs are way slower than their pros. So it will be interesting to see how it all plays out. The key of course is to keep it clean and keep going around. The atmosphere is amazing. People are in real party mode and it is "lively" to say the least. Off to bed now, big day tomorrow! Cheers, Roger |

Yep, what Mike said.
Good luck Roger. As I recall from reading about past races there half the battle is about not making contact with others in the field - or rather making sure they don't make contact with you! Heck of a learning curve I would imagine. Very impressed that you have all taken on the chellenge. |

Looks like it is all over so congratulations to Roger, Shaun & Pierre on getting to the end- and with 3rd in class as well.
When last checked positions about half way through it was pretty close between the top 3 GTE-AM cars, but must have been some bother for a couple of them as quite a few laps between at finish. Did notice Roger just pipped Pierre for team's fastest lap ten from end- so car obviously healthy at that point! Well done Guys |
