And the bizarre thing is we have to be noise tested, and they don’t!
Great fun in GD qualifying, as it started to rain as I took over the Morgan. 3 laps later the session was red flagged after the Lockie Thomas Cobra went int the gravel. The clock was stopped, and track now dry, so when the lights went green I waited 30secs before joining, and got 3 clear laps in..... |

There’s a display of HF1 cars in the outer paddock outside Masters tent, if you haven’t seen them. |

The Historic F1 Qualifying was incredible.Watching them round Druids was lovely.Seeing the two Mclarens back to back was great and quite a sight.Very close at the front between the top 3.
3 Red flags in the Sportscars was quite an achievement in the wrong sense. |

I didn’t think they raced it any more? Not seen it since the original,CSCC Special Saloons and Modsports revival race at Mallory about 5 years ago when I think it was on static display. |

It raced at Brands GP with Bernies V8 a couple of years ago and was quick. Not many grids where it looks pedestrian like compared to some of the other cars. |

Superb F1 battle between Michael Lyons and Martin Stretton but I'm afraid it was always going to end in tears, with Stretton snatching the lead from the start Lyons tried every which way to pass but in the end outbraked himself going in to Paddock causing extensive damage to the Williams but remained unhurt. Great drive from the pair of them up to this point, one of the best F1 races I've seen in years.
The F2 race today was superb and what a grid with I believe 30 cars making up the grid , absolutely stunning to see such a wide variety of machinery. The stars and stripes Manta did make a brief appearance in qualifying after initially failing a noise test along with several other cars that fell foul, sincerely hope it makes it out for the races tomorrow for what promises to be a great days' racing although the YTCCC races will no doubt be dominated by an indecently quick Mk2 Escort in the hands of Dan Brown pupported to be knocking out some 320bhp and showing everyone a clean pair of heals in qualifying. I'm afraid I missed the conclusion of Mike's race due to having to leave early, hope it went well. Last edited by justracing; 25 May 2019 at 18:15. |

Great day all round for me at Brands.
Lovely to walk arounf the pits and paddock looking at the various machinery. Some of the preperation is truly stunning. F1 was brilliant as I've previously stated. Not sure on the damage of the Lyons Williams. GT race was good although could havr done with a little more C3 cars .Seemed to be an interesting moment into Graham Hill with a Red Morgan, the Cobra and the chasing Elan. The YTCC grid was great.Shame couldn't see more of the CN Cobra and the Opel Manta V8. Sportscars was good although not quite like Peter Auto or thr grids the event used to get.Never gets boring seeing a T70 or a B19. Formula 2 was great seeing some of the cars from the back come through.Great to see it booming and in great health.Did get a little crowded. Pre 66 through Hawthorns was just a sight to behold. Another great day of historics.Just a bit miffed about not seeing the Ferrari.Next time maybe... |

A great day all in all the Youngtimers were superb and very diverse. The F1 was epic in qualifying and the three car battle for the lead. Sadly the Williams is badly damaged down it's left side. saw it live and a video of a different angle I think the suspension failed under braking.

I’m home Max, nothing for me there tomorrow. Sorry paths won’t cross! Plenty of other cars to appreciate though, especially the youngtimers field which includes two proper Gp2 CSLs- Adrian Brady and tenther Alex Elliot....

Have to say I that was one of the best days racing I've been to in long time, not just for the action from the afternoons racing but even during the mornings qualifying sessions the driving was stunning to watch, Stretton's last lap of the session pole lap was sumthing else, his celebrations in the car as he came back to the pits was almost like he won the race! Just to show how hard not only him but Lyons, Ferrer-AZA, Cantillon and Hartley were pushing they were covered by 0.600, not bad i think!!!
Away from the F1's, the F2's were stunning to watch, wheel to wheel driving which ever way you looked, and they are seriously noisy little things. The sports cars were a tad annoying, 3 red flags in 40mins is a bit much, tho the session was extended to make up for it. Hearing the sound of a big banger T70 being chased by a screaming T212/T290 or Chevron B19 is always magic. The Gentleman Drivers seams to be the home for the new generation as both Tom Ingram and Jake Hill of BTCC fame showed what the can do, tho the old guard can still show them a few tricks. Much like the Sportscars, there sumthing oddly satisfying watch the little Elan's getting mullered by the Cobra's in a straight line then just drive round them in the turns. The Young timers are always fun to see over here, you will not find such a strange but beautiful mix of cars anywere. Anyhow that went on for too long, here's my vid of the days action including Lyons crash: https://youtu.be/AtA8Ii36jPw |

Grand day out. We watched the F1 from Sheene/Dingle Dell/Westfield. I never even knew that spectator area existed! I presume because I've only been at the GP circuit when racing. I wrecked the engine first lap of qually in the MG, and wrote the Sports 2000 off the other time. Also on the first lap of FP1

But we were soooooo close to the action. Silverstone just doesn't cut the mustard in that respect. We could almost *touch* the cars as they went by.
Unfortunately two races were shaping up for great finishes, but they fizzled out under red flag/safety car. Such a shame for F1 and the Sports Cars. Star of the show? Youngtimers of course! Ranging from Trabants to God-knows-what-with-a-small-block-Chevy, they didn't fail to entertain. Looked a hoot. Wasn't impressed with Touring Cars. As many cars with body damage as without. I want to race again...... Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk |

Just a super weekend of racing at one of the best circuits(despite the fencing around the GP loop) and Sillystone is the worst.

The cars were wonderful, the driving exuberant and the circuit is beguiling but it is hard not to feel a real sense of anti climax when nearly every race is cut short, ends under caution or is confused by the safety car not picking up the leader. I know safety must be all but what is so wrong with waved yellows and live snatch when a car is just beached? Do FIA events have different rules?

Incredibly the Dutch brigade managed 2 x 30min races without any incidents and this with grids of 50+ diverse cars.
