Was that a spectator pushing Michael?

Looked like it to me!

I doubt it, but I've never seen a marshall in shorts and a T-Shirt before... Are the german standards that low? Perhaps the others are right to criticise...

would be VERY difficult to get there as a spectator, i think there are everywhere 2 fences between the fans and the track at nürburgring

I haven't seen a replay but I thought the real marshalls gave him a dirty look after MS took off.

I thought that at the time actually, and it needs investigating. Plenty of spectators made it onto the track afterwards, so its clearly possible to get over the fence. If he managed to clear the fence, it's ironic that Kimi had such difficulty.

If this was Montoya fans in Brazil (they treat it like a home race), DC fans at Silverstone or Alonso fans in Spain, heads would roll. But Michael fans in germany and Ferrari fans in Italy can do what they want. It's in the rulebook, read it.

they opened a gate after the race, that's why the spectators were running to the pits

The Norwegian commentator also said that it looked like a spectator. He was wearing t-shirts and shorts! That was no marshall. What does the rule book say about that? I doubt a German spectator would give JPM or Kimi a push...

I've sat at that corner a couple of years ago, and I would say it is impossible to get onto the track like that. For one thing, it is a heck of a long way to run to get there as quickly as he did!

Official Formula 1 website race notes
Quote:
As the Ferrari's front wing tagged the Williams' right-hand sidepod, the Ferrari spun and became momentarily beached in the gravel until three marshals and an interloping fan helped to push him clear.
I don't see how it could have been a fan though. And if it was, he sure got over the fences and onto the track in a hurry. He was there as fast as the marshals. Someone give that boy a job. Most likely it was the crane operater. I'll have to watch the tape and see if I can tell.

I still doubt it would be a spectator... can't see how the spectator would get down there. That said, Marshalls don't usually question anyone's credentials (at least here). Stil, very odd indeed.

T6here was no way that was an offical marshall, but I also do not think it was just a spectator either.

It was the driver of the green tractor. When he got to the car, he pushed from the side pod (probably not actually doing much help) and made no attempt to get at MS.

The tractor drive probably got caught up in the moment.

I saw it again, in highlights form, this evening, and that was how I saw it too. Don't know who it was.

It does not really matter if it were a great help or no help at all. There was still a guy pushing the car, and he (possibly) should not have been there.

Whether he was a spectator or tractor driver he shouldn't have been near the stricken Ferrari as he had no protective gear on.
