Iowa Speedway, June 22nd 2008

Rain washes out qualifying - means Dixon and Castroneves will take the front row.

Junqueira & Roth won't take part in the race after crashing in practice and damaging their cars.

Great news for Scott, he was having a shocker couple of practice sessions. The loser here was Hideki Mutoh, Hideki seamed to have it hooked up and was on top for the combined practice sessions.

Doing chat Hazard?? I'm not sure I'll make it, F1 till 2.00am in the morning here and a 5.30am start for IRL (who needs to work go to work on a Monday morning anyway)

Dan got it in a fuel economy move. Noda and Marco big battle.
Dixon fourth and more points on Castro-Neves and Briscoe who are two of his primary opposition.
Well done Dan.

Congrats to Dan on the race win - great drive by Hideki, he has been an impressive rookie

Good to see 4 of the Champcar teams finish in the top 13 on the lead lap...

Wheldon plans to donate his winnings from today to relief for victims of the floods that have wreaked havoc on Iowa in recent weeks. That's a good story.

After last years race, a lot of critics dismissed Iowa Speedway as being impossible to pass on. I figured the track just needed to be broken in a little, and the action today seemed to confirm that.

It's odd the Hideki's now 5th in the standings. He's done that quietly.

Means the lowest scoring AGR driver is Marco, with Danica not that much ahead either.

I read reports that Manning's retirement was because he was physically exhausted? I recall that he was one of the drivers that used the assisted-steering system last season; is it a regular problem with some drivers?

I've read that but have yet to be convinced by it, unless he's got some kind of long term injury or the car was vibrating way too much. He's done his night time stints at Daytona in bigger cars and run 500 milers before so I'd be suprised if simply being tired was the actual whole reason.

I've since read elsewhere that a new seat position for the race probably had a lot to with it; meaning his arms had to work even harder than usual.
