John D Wood should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
The body off pic is one of Derricks. As we ran 1300cc we wanted to loose a load of weight, Space frame was chopped off just in front of the batteries, we had trailing arms to a ford english axle, the body was laminated to the roll cage with the back struts, of the roll cage, supporting the top of the rear shock absorbers.the cockpit sides were ally boxes foam filled so it became a spaceframe/monocoque hybrid, the body could no longer be removed in one piece. the doors were just half doors.

The Corvair....

I'm trying to trace the body off of the Corvair super saloon. Some say it's hiding at a motor dealers somewhere in Leicestershire.....

I know the history bit that Gerry bought it, and broke it up so it wouldn't be out there beating the pants of of Baby Bertha. After all, it was a McLaren M8 CanAm car in drag!

So... anyone know?

DB Motors were involved with the car at one time, it may be worth contacting Martin Dilkes and see if he knows anything...

I've heard a similar thing Rob, I think the body is now black and the current owner has something to do with building V8 engines.
Good luck.

Hi All,
A new user and I know this is an old thread but just found it randomly and thought I would try something. Interested in what ever became of the Jenscot Jensen Healey? It ran in the mid 70’s at Ingliston and Knockhill in the Caledonian Modsport Championship driven by Eric Liddell. Any ideas would be gratefully received?! Thanks.

The Shell car was run by Don Moore and had very wide front wheels to stop the understeer, that is the car she is sure went to Ireland (she remembers getting a call from Ireland inquiring as to how a woman could drive a car with such heavy steering). The Poole notes from 74 state that it is an 'Alan Mann/Ford Boreham/Don Moore' car.

Mattie Mc Namara's Mk1 Escort

Hi All,

I have just joined this site today in hope to track down my grandfather's ( Mattie Mc Namara ) Mk1 Escort.

Mattie recently passed away, and I am looking for any information on where abouts this car could be as I would like to buy it back if that is any way possible.

I would really appreciate anyones help.

Only just seen this, sorry.

I recommend asking the question on the “CSCC Special Saloons and Modsports” Facebook site - there are lots of knowledgeable people on there, including original racers and preparers, and they may be able to help

Putting this out there in the hope someone can shed some light on the identity of a Special saloon type Mini shell that was built on to a racing Fairthorpe Electron Minor chassis. The Fairthorpe had had a successful club racing history in the hands of John Allan with a 1340/1500cc Ford pre crossflow engine, the car was also used on the road, the reg number was RNJ 957. I saw a magazine article years ago where the Mini was track tested, may have been CCC magazine or something similar and the Fairthorpe base was mentioned. Ring a bell with anyone?

Roughly when would this have been? Sounds as if it would have been early 1960s. Also, what part of the country? Any other clues?
