Stock Hatch
Just thinking out loud, why is nobody using a Ford Ka for Stock Hatch, It's got a lot going for it, a 1600cc engine from a Focus and a wheel on every corner. Any thoughts ?:

But I still could put in a 1400cc engine from a streetka or Focus and enter in Stockhatch, or maybe a 1600 froma Focus or Mondeo ?

has to be the original engine of that spec model
Stockhatch: Production cars with an engine capacity limit of 1600cc and 8v in the lower class and 1600cc 16v in the upper class. There are tight controls on the tuning modifications permitted to the cars which ensures driver ability shines through. Examples: Peugeot 106Gti, 106 Xsi, 205 GTi, Citroen Saxo VTR/VTS/C2, VW Lupo, Ford Fiestas |

5.5.5 ENGINE.
5.5.5.a The engine and gearbox must be as originally fitted as original equipment to the car and be in the original location. |

Ford had sold a 1600-cc version of the Ford Ka called Ford SportKA... this features a 94Bhp 8v engine, and i think it would be allowed for stockhatch... i only think it is a rather costly base for a stockhatch, with much less power then the peugeot/citroen engines...

i looked into this (for 750mc stock hatch) and unfortunately they are too heavy, too under powered v's the 205/saxo/106's.
There are two that have been raced in circuit stock hatch, its an expensive car to develop as parts are not commonly available so if you want to build one its not cheap. One of the cars in circuit stock hatch has always struggled to get past the heats (so its in the bottom 30 of around 60 qualifying times). The other one only raced once and it was very quick set fastest lap but never came back out again, it had a very well developed engine (apparently). |

Those Ka's aren't really quick indeed... altough not for stock hatch... in belgian regional rallycross two Ka's compete (still original chassis, so no space frame), but they're equiped with 2200cc engines...
