North American rallycross
I thought I'd create this thread to have as a whole for North American rallycross instead of just having a new one each season. Pastrana is currently trying to set up a series with the ambition of making rallycross the biggest form of motorsport in America
In this article he shares some ideas and beliefs of how he would like rallycross to be in the US, and some work he has made in order to make it happen. https://dirtfish.com/rallycross/nitr...lans-revealed/ Arpin and Subaru have signed up judging from social media posts. There is another team that plans to take part but due to the respect of it not having been announced yet, I will not name them. |

I have no problem with what it is called and Pastrana has some clout so that is type of person they need.

Regarding low cost classes, I'd suggest baja bugs and crosskarts.

DirtFish can exclusively reveal the first details of the new Nitro Rallycross series, which will start in 2021.
As previously shared by DirtFish, the Nitro Rallycross format will grow from a single competition at the Nitro World Games action sports event into a fully-fledged series from next year. |

Thread bump!
https://racer.com/2021/03/11/nitro-r...cast-schedule/ "The racing will be packed into short-form battles pitting drivers against one another head-to-head" "All events will be broadcast live on Peacock for free. In addition, a one-hour highlight show will air after each race on NBCSN" |

Dare I say but I think this is the most promising rallycross in N.America has ever looked. Hopefully with permanent tracks all over the country, amateur series can start up as well and start building the ladder down

This is the best news since the first GRC season in 2012. The first three events at New Jersey Motorsport Park were great seeds but we made real progress in 2012 and then let's say some people wanted to take it in a different direction.
We were so close. I literally met with NASCAR leaders (in the dreaded black trailer) at Kentucky Speedway; Jost Capito came to most events and even Mr. Ford had a serious chat with us. And then it blew up. Travis is the real deal. A fantastic all round human being and he has a real passion for rallycross (and Barrie, yes we will call it rallycross!) so I am excited to see what he will do. I know Elk River in Minnesota really well as we have tested our rally cars there and it will have lots of dirt (understatement). I will see him this weekend and if time allows will ask for his thinking. There are plans within an organization here to have club level competition and start to build something. If Elk River does that then I am in. Maybe this time, I can but dream! |

These are some details I've never heard of. Sorry to hear about your doomed efforts at the time, you deserve a lot of respect in my opinion for trying. Maybe now it will work.
I think Pastrana has a drive and an understanding of what needs to be done in America to get rallycross going, even if it's sui generis of rallycross. |

The only issue with Pastrana is he is spread very very thinly, he does so much stuff.
it has potential yes but simply I see no appetite for rallycross at a high level over there, it was hard enough getting it going in new areas in Europe, IMG spent a shed load trying tog et it big in all sorts of places but they just went wherever paid the most, not the right idea as it proved thankfully. |

Just a quick update after the Rally in the 100 Acre Wood
Although this year the support series will be RX2, the plan is to build clubman series at the venues they have chosen so that in future there will be the headline Supercar class but also strong clubman level series regionally that would support the show when it comes to town. Some good people are helping Travis with this effort and I gave my two cents in the couple of short conversations that I had. We shall see. Elk River is only an hour from me so maybe I can rallycross again! |

Posted in the WorldRX chat, but probably more relevant here; Liam Doran and Robin Larsson will compete in NRX in a pair of EKS/JC Audis.
