March 722 72B 723 ???.
I have been looking at the list of March Engineering chassis manufactured in 1972 for F2 F3 and Formula Atlantic.
722 number manufactured 20 Formula 2, Cosworth, 2 litre replacing 1.6 722 number manufactured 4 Formula Atlantic, confusingly built with F2 numbers 72B number manufactured 20 Formula B(U.S.), Chuck Sarich SCCA Formula B 723 number manufactured 20 Formula 3, new body with chisel nose and side rads Do the 4 different classes use the same basic monocoque, or are they different? Also what us the difference between a 722 Formula Atlantic and a 72B Formula B? |

You want to get hold of Pete Bloore, who has all the March 712/722 etc drawings and spares etc,and access to complete cars/restorations.He can be found at Snapon Wallingford Oxon,or it might be just Pete Bloore Racing there.I have his number somewhere, and he was still operating there recently, but travels to the States a lot!!Hope this helps?

Thanks for your help. I managed to speak to Peter the other day. Very interesting to talk with some running a team in 1972. He could not recall any differences in the monocoque's. March were running an exchange service for crashed monocoque's back then, so maybe a repaired F3 monocoque could have ended up in Formula Atlantic or F2. I've read somewhere that they may have experimented with different thickness aluminium sheet for the monocoque to vary the stiffness, but maybe that was just due to an aluminium sheet supply issue at the time.
