The projects been given the go ahead by the ACO. The company in question are from South Africa and produce the bodies for the Noble M12 and replica GT40s.
The orignal designer of the Daytona Coupe, Peter Brock?, is heavily involved in the car which is a modrn interpretation of the famous car. 60 orders have been taken with the GT class version costing around $100,000. |

Huh, I'll be damned.
I'm never going to be comfortable with >4.0L engines in GT, though. Interpretation? Hmm... |

Also depends on how high tech the engine is. Could 3.2l Ford/Chevy V8 compete with a Honda NSX 3.2l V6? |

That car is rolling sex!! I never thought i'd see something like that make it back to top-flight racing. I guess it's a similar thing to the Morgan though (but definitely not in looks) in that they'll be building a competent modern chassis and engine and sticking on a revised version of the old body...I think people will really get behind this car since it appeals to everything that people love about cars (at least for me).

Yeah that car's gto minerals, It really is incredible. My neighbor has one and it has a 7 litre motor-ford i think, it is blinding fast and rippsnorting loud so wonderful-envy jealousy the green monster has me.
I don't know how well it'll do but this will open up a new chapter inreplica racing won't it? Will we see an E type come back? |
