Somewhere between the end of last season and the start of this, Arrows seem to have reinvented themselves as a team who actullly have a little cash, and more than a turn of speed. Both their drivers have put in several appearances in the top-10 lists, and everything looks rosey...
Then once they start to race it all seems to go pear-shaped, and they never seem to finish. Isn't it about time we saw some of this practice and qualifying potential turned into race results?? |

I think it will take along time for arrows to improve their performance.

I had high hopes as well for Arrows since it's hertitage traces back to the upstart uop Shadow many moons ago. Things did look promising in pre-season then things go awry. Maybe if they would have stuck to the total orange livery at intro...

There should be a change of form for arrows in the near future. Why? Well because I've just dropped them from my fantasy formula 1 team. Oh well, that's the way it goes. Conversely expect a downturn in fortunes for Williams and Mezzacane.

Can Mazzacanne's (sp?) results get any worse? (Note I said his results, not his ability)

Qualifying last and finishing last making up lots of places as other people retire is a good way to earn lots of fantasy f1 points.

Despite my allegiance to the 'other' back-markers I can't help but be disappointed by Arrow's general lack of results this season. Could it be that Minardi would have done a better job with the Supertec engines???
As for Mazzacane, the guy obviously has ability. His results this year may not look impressive but in fact they are. |

Gene is more than good enough to be in the top ten - his drives last year went from poor to excellent (Hockenheim, Nurburgring, Sepang). He's better than De La Rosa and with time Verstappen and a whole heap of other drivers.
GO GENE! |

I am very disappointed to see Arrows in such a far position after the preseason expectations. Even worse, I think that they have missed the opportunity of scoring points because I do not see they have ability to develop the car over the season, so they will get even more behind by the end of the season.
I have no doubt that Minardi would have performed better with a Supertec engine, but they would have needed better drivers to score points. They are not as bad as many people think that they are not good enough to be in the top ten. |

Minardifan,
Since I am Spanish, my heart and supports goes with Gene and De la Rosa (I actually prefer Gene since we have commun friends, and I have been talked what a great guy Marc is). I think that Gene has done a good job with Minardi, but after seeing how Mazza is not that far behind him, I am realizing that he is not as fast as I thought. But I can tell you one thing for sure, Pedro is a faster and more solid pilot than Marc. Gene could be compared to Josh with the differece that Josh has received a lot more opportunities to success than Gene in F-1. |

See now that Renault is going to supply them in 2002 and that they'll have ugrades on the Supertec till then. Watch for more works engine deals to spring up in 'associate' teams.
