Interesting. On actual times, Pantano would have been 3rd and Nakajima 4th or 5th.
Ominously for the rest, it looks as though Glock and iSport are now showing the form that everyone was predicting pre-season. |

Glock on pole then, no big suprise there. Nice to see Conway up the grid in 5th, hopefully he wont have the problems this time around he had at Bahrain. Will be interesting to see if Pizzonia comes through the field tommorow, for someone of his pedigree he has so far failed to shine this year. IMO.

The guys who picked up the penalties this morning got five spot hits, not three.

Glock was the pre-season favourite and Bahrain wasn't representative of his pace given his problems. Still the race behind iSport, if they keep their advantage in the race, should be close; just three tenths between third and ninth.
Looking forward to tomorrow, let's hope they buck the trend for processional races at Barcelona. |

Have you always been penalised for yellow flag infringements? Or does that come in with similar offenses handed down in F1 last year? Usually you just lose your fast lap and sometimes additional laps, I wasn't aware of a fixed grid penalty.

No, it's new for this year. They used to lose their 2 fastest laps but there were times last year where, for example, Hamilton banged in 3 identical laps and didn't actually get a penalty, so they've changed it this year in line with F1.

Why are the engines so unreliable thus far? This really should not be happening.

Good first win for Senna, if a little fortunate. Great recovery drive from Glock, he almost did it! Got to feel sorry for Conway, didnt do anything wrong and got taken out. Still theres always tommorow, but somehow I think he will find it harder to come through the pack this time around than he did at Bahrain where overtaking is a lot easier. All in all though a suprisingly interesting race. IMO.

Not a bad race. Obviously Glock would have won without the tactical blunder, but it's great to see Senna win. It's come earlier than I'd expected, but the kid has talent, and considering he's only been racing for three or four years his performance has been very impressive.
Credit to Aleshin, a good result considering his time in the car. Nakajima's fast if he could only get to the end of the race. With Glock's pace, if he doesn't get caught in any incidents he should win tomorrow. Don't understand the engine failures as the cars have been reliable since they sorted out the initial problems. Maybe the new bodywork is compromising cooling. Last edited by Charlies; 12 May 2007 at 15:47. |

Yep, have to agree with all of the above.
Very controlled race from Senna. I think he knew he had it in the bag from the first stop, and pushed exactly the right amount. Shame about Conway. Considering he's the first person in GP2 I've really supported (living about 1 mile from him), it's been a painful first few races. He hasn't really done anything wrong, but just always seems to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. At least his pace is there (even if his starts are not) |

I may be biased but I think that was an outstanding performance by Senna. Sure, there was a degree of luck, but it seems to have been a deliberate decision by Glock not to pit until late. Bruno moved up to 3rd off the line and jumped Di Grassi at the pit stops. After that he paced himself perfectly despite problems with a left front tyre.
I hoped and thought the guy would win in GP2, but not as soon as this. |

Not a bad race, gotta give Karun Chandhok a mention for his silly (and self-induced, replays showed) accident at the start, shouldn't be making silly and *very* dangerous mistakes at that level.
Very well done to Bruno Senna though, top drive...hopefully Arden can avoid a mid-season drop off this year. |

It's just a shame for Senna that his name is Senna...we all know who he will be compared to.
