No, not wasted really.... If it doesn't fit, I can't wear it, but I can't bear the idea of giving it away!

There is that - but he perseveres, nonetheless!

I have been going since I was 19. I came across a guy recently who first went in 1959 and is still going every year - this year will be his 60th trip!

Indeed so. My, there is a lot of Le Mans 'stamina' about! Having said that, it isn't difficult to have stamina for it, is it?

I guess we've gone a bit off topic here, so any more long LM reminiscences should be in the subforum from hereon....

Differences between original EOT concept vs how it's being handled now:

"At Le Mans, a hybrid does a lap more per stint than a non-hybrid."
"Hybrids are at a relative disadvantage at Le Mans." I see....no wait no I don't. |

Relative PERFORMANCE disadvantage in terms of power and use of the hybrid. I didn't think it was that hard to understand. The non-hybrids don't have to lift and coast either. Just imagine how big their fuel tank would have to be if they never reduced Toyota's. That would definitely be adding a little more kg's.

They will always have that disadvantage. That's how I see it. The non hybrids are easier on fuel. Leave it to the ACO. They know best the relative performances

The ACO has a track record of making strange choices but who else is going to try an even things up let us hope they get it close at least

If it was simply "pick the best tech" then the diesel Audis would've gotten wayyyy more laps on a stint than the petrol cars. They had much more energy per litre of fuel. But the EoT gave it a smaller fuel tank size and slower fuel fill rate (energy per second, rather than litres per second). The Toyota gets a longer stint because it's calculated that way. Whether it should or shouldn't is up for discussion, but without the EoT it'd be a huge difference. Last edited by Akrapovic; 1 Jun 2018 at 13:13. |

Though this primarily concerns Le Mans right now, there's been no significant EOT change for LMP1 for LM race week so far.
There's been a ton of movement in BOP for GTE-Pro, with only the Porsche 911s still in the same spec as at the test day. http://www.dailysportscar.com/2018/0...-released.html http://www.dailysportscar.com/2018/0...-adjusted.html |

So, after the 24h of Snorefest of this year's LMP1, the crazy attrition in LMP2 and GTE-AM, that only leaves GTE-PRO as a reason to watch the rest of the superseason. And I don't like BoP.
Is there any point to the rest of the Super Season or are Toyota going to walk it without even having to sweat for it? Or, hopefully, now that Toyota got its win, are the privateers going to be allowed to at least be in the same category as the Toyotas like they were supposed to? One EoT change after LeMans, right? Will the Ginettas have enough money for the next races - and if they fail to run at another race (like e.g. Fuji, since I don't believe they'll miss their home race at Silverstone), are they going to be expelled from the championship? Will the non-Gibson engines ever become competitive? Are the Dunlops ever going to stop blowing up? Will the Aston Martins get faster than the old Vantage? Nice Super Season you have here, WEC... |
