Rockingham Stages-Come on you race marshals

Hi Guys, I'm normally lurking around the Historic Racing threads but get involved in some rally organising when I get bored.

Thought I'd stick this thread up quite early, 8th & 9th December 2012, Rockingham Stages, funnily enough at Rockingham.

Format will be to start at about midday sat & run to about 7-8pm then start again at 10am sunday till about 3pm.

If you've not been there before, the sight up to 20 rally cars in the pitch black with full light pods blazing, running in all directions around the 'ring is quite a specticle.

We don't seem to see many "race" marshals at this event so come along & give it a go, you certainly won't get bored.

Unlike racing, you will be allowed to take your own car onto the circuit to park near your corner.

Details still a bit sketchy at the moment, even the website has not been upadated from last year. But put it in your diaries & keep a look out for information about contacting the chief marshal. As soon as I get more info myself I'll put it up on this thread.

Thanks in advance for you help.

I agree! Been doing this for the past 4 years and its great! Nice to end the year with something a little different to circuit racing. Me and dad will be there again this year... managed to get two other race marshals on side this year as well!

Thanks for all the positive responses folks, please can you pass this on to everyone else you know to ensure we have a good turn out.

I think you are correct about the Scout Hut but I just need to confirm first before saying too much.

Worth thinking about, if The Fat Clerk recommends it must be good. Take it the stage is round the infield circuit.

Thanks Racegypsy,

The stage uses all the circuit including outside public parking area, banked circuit, infield, pit lane, paddock & all the tunnels under the grandstands.

With cars leaving the start line at 30sec intervals & a 2 lap system there's never any lack of action.

Have a look on Youtube their's lots of footage.

Regards

Quite tempted to give this one ago - it'll be my first rally. Plus it will be something different to the norm.

Can marshals family use the indoor suite in the grandstand for this like other Rockingham days?
The wife and 2 kids want to come but don't wanna freeze their butts off in December.

I would suggest you get in touch with Cat Lund (Rockinghams Operations Manager). Normally for this meeting the hospitality suite is used for marshals who have done a certain number of days in the season (at Rockingham), so they are give 'VIP' treatment! Oooo.. Nice food, drink and a place to watch from in the warm.

Not sure if it's available for general marshals guests though so as said, get in touch with Cat.

Thanks for keeping this thread alive guys.

The hosptiality area is open to every one, Cat's people always put on a good spread inc breakfast, hot food from lunchtime onwards & hot drinks all through the day.

Great to watch from the viewing platform or take a walk around the service area to see the action there.

At last count we were up to 53 entries for the 2 day bash & 12 for the sunday only event.

So if anyone else is thinking of coming out for a last final fling of the year click on http://www.rockinghamstages.co.uk/ & head to the marshaling page.

Thanks all again

Only a few days to go. Nice to see that Rockinghams very own Operations Manager, Cat Lund has been able to enter with Andy in their Mitsubishi Evo this year! We'll expect something promising from you then!
