Must admit I'm very surprised by how well the Norlin cars went. I thought Dave would do his usual; plenty of points, odd podium, but thought Chris would struggle - especially at first, but he seems to have been very quick today.

1.8 seconds covering all 30 cars. Lovely.

As we know, impossible to tell the running order based on this, especially when teams may be running ballast and there's a new tyre.

But, as 850Estate mentioned, we can take away that the field is incredibly close. Ace.

MG from the front, Infiniti from the back.

Looks awful but still nice to see the most up-to-date car.

A good entry list this year, most of last year's dross has been cut out.

Mostly nice liveries, too, but I'm not really a fan of the Norlin grey.

When the chat is all about whether sponsors have a website or not it highlights how unexciting the media day was with no surprises (worth talking about) and half-hearted testing!

Hi Mark. As I'm sure you are aware, you are pretty awful at touring car racing. Would you mind us using your name to anger fans so that they are more happy when we announce you are in fact not racing for us?

Mark?

Oh. He hung up.

Few observations from today:

Norlin livery looks great, reminds me of the Hoy/Spence Arena Renault Laguna.

Dynamics were Clearly running some specific test program as half the time they were hardly pushing it at all it seemed, perhaps running in fresh engines?

The Astras need setup work/more testing, Chilton was getting great pace but they look very twitchy and quite loose at the back, watching the way it took the Old Hairpin looked positively dicey.

Depper's Focus likes being a tripod, he seemed to be really getting some good lines and looked far faster than in the Civic.

Cole looks quick in testing mode so why the hell is his race pace so rubbish?

Speedworks livery is even worse than last years!

Why do we still not know what TAG is/does?

WSR livery looks better in the flesh.

The new Dunlop tyre stickers make the wheels look bigger which is great as it reminds me of when they went to the bigger rims (was it 19" or 20" I forget) on the super tourers in 2000.

Not sure if you were at Donington or not, but if not, wait til you get to see the Chevys in the flesh. Love those.

BTC Norlin are coming across as a highly professional outfit. Smart liveried trucks, immaculately presented cars, garage layout one of the best in the pitlane, brilliant teamwear. They had an awful lot of guests at Donington. I hope they do well.

Livery wise, there are some highly professional looking ones (BTC Norlin, Team Parker, PMR, BMR, Honda)...

But some are downright awful or bland - Ingram's car is a mess, Moffat's car has been ruined over the winter and looks pretty bad now, and the MGs?! How bland are they?! And the Eurotech cars have been tweaked to look worse too.

Well, if MG are reading this (doubt they do of course!) but I would happily design them a better livery in 30 minutes than the bore-fest they've created.

Not sure if anyone at DOnington spotted the following though:

1) Tom Chilton hassling and battling Matt Neal on track for a couple of laps. Very entertaining and probably a sign of things to come!

2) Matt Neal losing it on cold tyres late on coming out of the final chicane. Full opposite lock both ways to bring the car straight. Lots of tyre smoke and very entertaining!

Agreed on most, but I actually like the hint of red they added to Moffats Merc. And, haters gonna hate, I absolutely love the new HARD.. ehrm... TAG-liveries. White suits that car well, and the liveries are clean and professionally looking.

I'm sure everyone here if familiar with the reference to 'Three Shredded Wheat'. The original ad campaign was more than 30 years old, and it's probably been over 20 years since Shredded Wheat actually used that in their any of their promotion work, yet it's still clearly a phase most people understand. I get the feeling we are going to get a lot of jokes and references to three during the year. Motorbase are running three cars, numbered as 3, 30 and 300 - surely that's not a coincidence. And the associate sponsor who share billing in the team name..... Duo!

Well, it amused me at least.

Out of all the liveries this year Jelley's must be my favourite. The red on Moffat's Mercedes doesn't integrate with the design well in my opinion, looks as if it was stuck on as an afterthought!

Looks like MG & Ingram are the least popular this year? Am I right in saying this is the last year of the MG's contract so hopefully 888 will have something different for next year, car and livery wise.

I wasn't there, but you're right about them looking better in the metal, liveries always do.

I agree about Moffat's livery. What's the red stripe for? And why has the Mercedes badge been filled in blue?

I prefer this year's Eurotech livery. Last year's wasn't quite vibrant enough for me. On the other hand, the Maximum car has far too much white on it.

I hope the Vauxhalls will run with the grey wheels for most of the season, they look better than the white ones.

Totally disagree about the black wheels for me personally. More than half the grid run black wheels, boring to me (imo). I much prefer white, silver or some colour.

What's the point in using 18" rims if the rims are essentially hidden by the black paint? The rims just blend into the tyre. Might as well use 16" wheels if they are going to be black.

Had another cracking day at Donington for the Media Day yesterday. There are so many great liveries this year, my personal favs at the Motorbase Ford's and the Works BMW's, they just look stunning.

Anyway here's my vid from the day, not my best work but enjoy, all comments welcome:
