The MR2 was built by TTE and ran in testing, but I think it was being designed as a Group S car, much like teh Delta EPS or whatever it was.
Audi also had a mid engined Quattro built allegedly and I suppose Peugeot might have used the 405 in S
Still not sure how on earth Renny and DSRM managed to get a car that early to be honest!
I am also thinking that unbeknonst to anyone here the French guys might have had an E1 "05 in 85 possibly or at least 86, but i fear that FRench rallycross only really took off later on with the big money teams and guys like Saby, Warmbergue and Frequelin involved. Though I do seem to remember Gerard Roussell ice racing hid R5 Maxi round a bone dry track in front of the bewildered ERC regulars one time back then!!

Well they were just road cars, and they had to be on sale before it could be homologated I guess?

I have looked it up for you. They might have did one-offs but they didn't finish in the top20 of the final standings. By the start (and the end) of 1987 there were a few E1's, but nothing more. I think the regulations were a little different or something. By that time all experienced drivers were developping Group A cars, instead of Group B machines. Roussels Renault 5 was even modified for Rallycross. Generally they see '88-'90 as their Group B era. I did found that one of the E1 drivers in '87, Francois Dumas, did drive Autcross (including his own EC round) with that car in '86. I can't find 100% confirmation however, my French is reasonable but not good enough, other sources say he did drive, but not with what.

I've split the Group B vs Modern machinery conversation off into its own thread:

http://tentenths.com/forum/showthread.php?t=79097

Can we keep this thread for pictures and videos please (and plenty of them )

( I helped drag this off topic so I thought I'd better sort it out )

OK Bert here's a few more of mine, mostly rallycross but we'll start with a rally one.
Ari Vatanen, 205 T16, 84 RAC, Lowther Park
Matti Alamaki's T16 In the paddock at Mondello
Finn Jespersen's 911 at the 90 Internations Cup, Croft
Pat Doran leads Schanche and Gibson at Lydden
Mark Flaherty at Anglesey
Not strictly a group B version, but here's the Renault 5 of Roger Newbould
Thor Holm and John Moloney at Mondello in 91
Bert Brodin at Mondello in 1990
and finally for now
Pekka Rantanen at Mondello in 1990

Nice photos, are they yours? I assume that is shot at a rally stage, why is that Samba bumping that Ferrari?

This is one of the best threads we have had for a long time on here.

C'mon guys, someone somewhere must remember that Quattro thread, it was on a fan site somewhere, might have been German or Austrian and had laods of videos of rallycross Quattros. I seem to remember laods of Herbie Brieteneder stuff so may have been Austrian.

Would be good to see them again

Just how damn good does that car sound!

Right, we need some RS200 and especially Delta S4 stuff now!!

Hi all.

RS200 of Drogmans Ypres 1986

Tabaton at Ypres

Beguin in Ypres 1984

All my own photos and I have plenty more to post if people like them.

The Ferrari photos were taken at Croix-en Ternois race track which hosted a stage of that years Division 1 event at Le Touquet. The samba has just started the stage (from the pit lane) and Vincent was coming into the hairpin at the wrong time.
The end result was this.
