Makes the AU look a thing of beauty. Time for a rule change if you have to ******** a good looking car up that much. Truly hideous.

I don't think I have ever experienced a new race car so universally panned. Every place you go, forums, facebook, news sites you name it. This is a big misstep by Supercars.
I never really jumped on the 'supercars is over' bandwagon but they will struggle if they don't make this work and at this VERY early stage it's not looking good. |

I wouldn't want my name / logo on that turd if I was Ford.....
What a way to dilute what is the classic image of the mustang into some horrid mess! |

looks like a falcon with mustang lights / grill and a fastback. Looks absolutely terrible, like a 3 year old drew it at kindy.

But Supercar were the ones who dictated that the roll cage and chassis was set in stone. You can't wrap a pony's skin on an elephant's skeleton and expect it to look correct.
And what they ended up with is something that looks like a falcon dressed up as a mustang. Who'd a thunk it? |

Seems every time I come to a Supercars thread I end up coming away with the same thought; "They don't know how good they actually have it." But I've got to say it: Still looks better than what we got in NASCAR.
Seriously, right now NASCAR fans would kill to have the cars look HALF that good. I mean you all saw that....THING that lumbered around at the Gold Coast round a few weeks ago, right? That was the best looking NASCAR design... I suspect it'll look a lot better in action regardless. |

Looks like a Falcon coupe rather than a Mustang.

Nope, but my point was they aren't Ludo either.
We all knew this shape was going to be *******ised/adjusted to fit. I'm mostly impressed that it is as close as it is. We could have easily ended up with a roofline/glass house that resembled a EB falcon or even a Sierra. Is it perfect? No. Is it better than a NASCAR likeness? Definitely. Will it give the ZB team's an ice cream headache? Probably. The important things are 1. It's competitive 2. Ford/Ford Performance are happy with the results and are happy to maintain their commitment to the series. Achieve both of these and the adaptation to the COTF chassis will become a moot point. |

It seems the cost of developing a competitive bodywork and competitive engine are very expensive, even in isolation, let alone for a new manufacturer who needs to pay for both. |

We're an orphan series in a far away corner of the world with a relatively obscure set of regulations and a high cost of entry to meet those requirements. Those working within that framework to bring us a Mustang Supercar aren't to blame for that, the creators of the framework are. |

Sadly I'm not too enthused with the look of this car, doesn't look right, but then the testing camo could be making things looked worse and once painted up in team colours might make a few things disappear. Bit of a visual trick... |

Is it just me that thinks of one of those Future Racers when they see the Mustang?

I think it looks awful but hoping it changes a bit before final homologation. The Marc Mustang looks so much better, Ford could've gone down that path had the rules allowed them to. Ideally it would've been better to base it off the production chassis ala GT4 but what would Holden have for that? Doubt they'd use the Camaro when they've got the Commodore to sell. |

To be fair, the current ZB is likely to be the "closure" model for Commodore.
Sales have bombed so incredibly badly - there must be many nervous people |

Current sales are on par with the Mustang. GM have had to halt production due to the backlog of unsold ZB's. Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk |

Ryan Story is on the latest Fox podcast, chatting about the Mustang test, and they also chat about the looks of it and why they can't shorten the roof.
