WSR @ Silverstone

Once again, I'll be there.
Once again, the tickets are free.

It's on the GP circuit, but i wonder whether it'll be as good, whats the viewing like compared to Donington?

I've been once, and that was years ago, and barely remember it.

If you haven't the sole use of a helicopter. Outside of Copse,or Maggots/Chapel or Stowe to Abbey. Then theres the little known section just to the left outside of Bridge, look to the left and theres a viewing area there, you'll get a good imprssion of speed from there,or are you taking your own!

Hmm, i was at the grass bank on the outside of Copse for the British GP... wasn't that impressed. I wonder if the Grandstands will be opened up for use?

As far as I'm aware the grantstands will be open. As for viewing, try the open stands at Abbey......you can see from Stowe thru Club and into Farm, otherwise the Luffield complex offers a good photo vantage point.

Whittlebury Hall is probably the closest.

I would expect the camping for marshals to be behind Copse, as it usually is for big meetings.

so does that mean they will have none or little security in that area.
or is it blocked from public access.

i take it they will use the middle of the circuit...the runway area for all the promo & family entertainment

I'm only summising, Gary, about the outside of Copse. There is some form of security, but it is not very high profile. I am at Silverstone on Saturday 31st May for a meeting and will ask Pam about the arrangements etc. As for the infield, the support races will take up most of the area, plus other attractions.

My tickets for this arrived today. Quick question though, has anyone seen a timetable for the weekend anywhere? I can't see one on either the WSR or Renault Sport sites, and the Silverstone page just directs you to the WSR site.

Trying to make some sort of decision about whether to go Saturday or Sunday.

It's listed under the wrong date but there's a timetable on the BARC website. Looks very provisional though.

Excellent cheers, looks like it has to be Sunday if I want to see the Clios then

Really torn between going Saturday for slightly less crowds but less racing and Sunday for more racing but potentially more crowds.

Wonder what crowds will be like this year compared to last with the change of venue, haven't quite seen it promoted as much as in previous years.

Slightly off -topic........

Silverstone was without two of it's younger supporters this weekend, as Ben & Aaron Peak were killed in a Motorway accident yesterday morning whilst travelling to the track.

A tragic, unneccessary loss of life. My thoughts are with the family at this awful time.
