Cheese 2014 Silly Season (Merged x2)

After the first year of CotF who knows what might happen.

Apparently James Phelps does... Here

Would Mr Courtney really leave Australia again for Europe and/or Asia?

No not really.

1. Falcons will be in a museum, and people will say remember them.

2. A lot of the drivers on the scene at the Moment will be in retirement villages.

3. FAS 33 to step up to the stage and get his year 12 certificate.

He might have to. Taking a $800,000PA pay cut might be a hard pill to swallow...

More than a year on contract and pimping himself around... Sounds like he won't be with HRT, either by his own choice or being dumped.

It's a negotiating ploy by Gow - trying to lock in a contract extension with HRT asap by saying there's other opportunities out there for him.

He can't say there are other V8 teams interested because HRT know that isn't true.

Can't understand which 'European' opportunities are there - a guy who hasn't raced in Europe in a decade and isn't currently winning in his current series is all of a sudden in demand on the continent. Because they have a lack of tin-top and sports car drivers over there?

The only reason this is a maybe is because Gow is Euro based, has credibility and is an excellent negotiator.

But I still call BS.

Does "wasn't winning" translate to "wasn't competing"?

He was never in F1 other than as a test driver.

To be fair, he'd won races in every championship he competed in and won most of the championships at some point.

He left Europe for Japan because he'd lost interest in F1 after his testing accident and being in the middle of the demise of Jaguar. He saw it first-hand and decided this wasn't for him.

He then went and was successful in Japan - which if the Phelps article had quoted that as an option I would find believable as he has a good rep over there.

in the V8 or oversseas?
I wanna see him come back to FPR, hes not doing that good and their cars are just too slow, even on tv when they turn and enter the corners they look just so big and slow. their running in the middle when skaife was in front for so many years, get rid of walkinshaw coz all he thinks about is his dj music, and I think Skaife should give up his day job and get back to helping his old team back to where they were 10 yrs ago.

Was Will at FPR ?
That must be HRT's problem, they're cars are too big ?
Maybe the drivers heads are ?

The truth is probably a bit of both. Sometimes arrangements just don't fit well. Most of us have been at a workplace that didn't work out for us.

Then you go somewhere else, do the same thing in the same (or similar way) and the results are much better.

GT's had a lot longer driving these cars and he's struggling, relative to where HRT and GT would expect to be.

James' problem is who would actually take him if he leaves HRT. FPR/Ford in general will not go near him after getting burned last time. Triple 8 don't want or need him.

He's one of very few championship winning drivers in the field, so he has some value, but I honestly can't think of anyone that could afford him would take him.
