Well what do you think?? Well, the Viper is my favourite but Chevy have done the best through the decade!

I always liked the Saleen and it had some success with Oreca, although it was never really suited to Le Mans, its still a great car

Saleen is my favourite GT1 car , but I cant deny Corvette (C5 & C6) have been in another league most of the way .

Prodrive are right up there with Corvette if the results of the 550 and the DBR9 are combined.

well .. P&M built cars were the only constant of the period .. but they always had opposition on par .. be it the 550 or the DBR9

This doesn't belong in the Le Mans forum, does it? With the MC12 being included...
Also, it doesn't make sense to group the 550 and 575 together. The road cars may be similar, but the race versions couldn't be more different. |

As much as I am an Aston Martin fan, I voted for Corvette. P&M have been phenomenal throughout this decade, and I like those Vettes just as much as the Astons

This was an interesting decade for the big GTs. The Oreca Vipers dominated the early part of the decade and the Ferraris, Astons and MC-12s have had their moments. I have to agree with most of the previous posters, the Corvette has been consistently strong and consistenly reliable throughout the decade and is my vote for best as they've won the most 24 hours in the decade and have had the most podium finishes at Le Mans for the decade. I have to admit though, the Aston Martin DBR9 was certainly the best looking GT1 of the decade (what a beautiful car).

Most of these 'best car' threads have at least one choice which doesn't belong there in a thread in the Le Mans sub-forum.....

The Corvettes. They'll be the cars I'll be searching the world over to see in historics, just to get that nostalgia fix. The sound they make! The ground shakes! And you see a flash of yellow, you here the V8 rumble, and you know what it is.
And also they're just so fantastically American - its nice for cars to act like where they're from. |

2000 - Viper wins GTS, best Corvette C5R 3rd in GTS
2001 - Corvette C5R wins GTS 2002 - Corvette C5R wins GTS 2003 - Ferrari 550 wins GTS, best Corvette C5R 2nd in GTS 2004 - Corvette C5R wins GTS 2005 - Corvette C6R wins GT1 2006 - Corvette C6R wins GT1, 4th overall 2007 - DBR9 wins GT1 (5th overall), best Corvette C6R 2nd GT1 (6th overall) 2008 - DBR9 wins GT1, best Corvette C6R 2nd GT1 2009 - Corvette C6R wins GT1. So actually 3 of 5 for C5R and 3 of 5 for C6R. So, while they did not only losing twice as posited in the previous post, still a pretty impressive record. DK |

So that makes it Pratt & Miller 6, Prodrive 3 and Oreca 1.
So P&M are the best Manufacturer of the 00's then. |
