And not just the heart. It's a great video, but you just can't convey the sense of 'Oh, @%^ &$*' when the car got airborne at precisely the spot Richard can't see with the camera.

I have it hanging around on my fileserver if anybody can't view the website, it's a fair sized d/load 3.73mb. But definitely one of those moments that us on the bank will never forget.

PM me if you'd like a copy (I assume that's ok with you Rich?)

We were in the Rescue Unit with the engine running puzzling at why we weren't being called because we knew where he'd lost it and heard the bang.

Good work by all, especially after seeing the video.

We were on the post where Graham actually stopped and trust me.........

we were even more surprised than you guys on rescue that we didn't have to call you!

Myself as I/O had:
a Chief Marshal running away to think about "Helicopters, Ambulances etc" (his words)
an experienced marshal shouting in my ear "Oh ****, Oh ****,Oh ****,"
other marshals grabbing bottles whilst still wondering just where this accident is going to finish;
and Me, trying my best to let the training/experience kick-in and "let it finish" before calling whilst wanting to be somewhere (anywhere) else!!!

The video unfortunately does not truly show just what so many people saw on the day but it does show one very important point.
EVERY SINGLE marshal on-post (except the I/O) takes a bottle to what seems like a simple spin. All you experienced marshals (no offence to others reading this) will fully understand just what type of incident can cause this type of response. Trust me, it looked a damn sight bigger from our view point than the video shows.
Either way though, we are all glad that Graham walked away from it.

for those of you who were not there or do not know Shelsley........

We on post could see the other side of the Teme valley under Graham's car as he is doing in excess of 120 mph on a track that is about 12 feet wide with a 2ft bank at the side. Talk about scarey!!!!!

After having a fiddle with my computer i can now watch it.
Good video, just a shame we cant see the point that it all went wrong.
For me the worst point was being so far into the braking area before being able to do any kind of braking and then having only a split second to decide if i`m going to brake it down and stand the chance of locking it up and going in head first or slowing it down a bit and trying to get round.
This video is good but as Stuart was saying it only tells about half the story.

24.63 GWJ June 2003

An earlier clip from Saturday practice 2003

http://www.rjdunn.co.uk/24.63.wmv

I think Graeme went on to set a new record on the Sunday, but he knows the full story. That was the first time I ever met Junior, on Saturday when I played the video back to him and then on Sunday when I produced a printed sequence of clips from the video.

He's more like Ace Rimmer than Ace rimmer,
what a guy..... [Red Dwarf moment].

Webbo may want to comment..

This thread has been great. To do it justice I will add 2 picture links in a while. Not the 'Hamlet' picture, but 2 others of the same time.

Richard (McB666).

Thumbnails, links to originals below.

The sequence of 3 shots is on the page.

The second picture, I think, would look great printed big and put on the wall.

WOW, Well done Richard.
Video, 1st practice i did on the Saturday (nice opener!)
1ST pic tells a story, this is what the Video of the off could not show, the crest is round about the braking point and its easy to see that the car is still bouncing around after this point.

The second picture shows part of Graeme’s new "carbon offset" scheme, for environmentally friendly motorsport.

Yes just fitted the KVTOM in the Dax today, lots of jobs to do, they are out this weekend. I should be out for Doune with the Predator all going well, but i have a lot of jobs still to do to it aswell, mainly the tidying up of the cars systems because of all the system changes we had when it was last out, so i want to make them all nice again.

So a good weekend at Doune will see an entry at Loton ?

Here's hoping....

mcb, i know you asked this on the other thread, but thats for the wee cars.
The v10 lives again and should be away down later next week. And the power seems to be rather good, about 350bhp.

350 per bank. But as we all know its what the clock reads that counts.

The news is..........

That there is a V10 Arrows engine for sale on racecars direct.

At that price, I might get 2.

Shame.

Junior will no doubt reveal his plans soon.
