I really have no idea!

That is not the way I understood it....He is going to add a third car to his operation....

He is winning right now...3 of the last 5 races....and Ganassi is not...

Fernandez won't go to Ganassi....that wouldn't make any sense to race against an operatiion that he owns...

The situation is to confusing!

I mean what's in it for him?

He would almost end his chances of being a contender for the championship next year unless Toyota catch up!

I think you may have misunderstood my last two posts, luke...

Ganassi is looking to add a third car to his effort...

Fernandez is looking to add a third car and driver to His team....

Fernandez will not be driving for Ganassi...he is just adding a car to his own team...

The drivers for Fernandez will be Fernandez, Matsuura, and a third driver to be named later....

Sorry about the confusion....

With all of the new news(rumors!) its time for an update!

Ray would love to run 2 car team for 05, he has the sponsor, and he would likely drive second car
Access Motorsport - Mark Taylor
Access Motorsport - Greg Ray

AGR looks solid, but have heard rumors thet Bryan could go?
Andretti-Green #1 - Tony Kanaan
Andretti-Green #2 - Dan Wheldon
Andretti-Green #3 - Dario Franchitti
Andretti-Green #4 - Bryan Herta

Cheever would like to expand to 3 cars, but no drivers signed as yet
Cheever Racing #1 - Alex Barron?
Cheever Racing #1 - Ed Carpenter?
Patreek Carpentier?

D&R look sure to expand to 2 car team
Dreyer & Reinbold - Felipe Giaffone
Michael Keohane?

Fernandez likely to go to 3 car team. Matsurra to stay on.
Fernandez Racing #1 - Adrian Fernandez
Fernandez Racing #2 - Kosuke Matsuura
#3 - ?

Chip also likely to go to 3 car team. 3rd driver not known yet
Ganassi Racing #1 - Scott Dixon
Ganassi Racing #2 - Darren Manning
#3 Scott Sharp?

Mo likely to field 2 cars. Drivers unknown, but Takagi will thankfully be gone!
Mo Nunn Racing - Carpentier?
Barron?

Panther may go to 3 car operation, and Sharp along with his sponsor Delphi are a possibilty.
Panther Racing #1 - Thomas Scheckter
Panther Racing #2 - Townsend Bell
Scott Sharp?

If Pat finds a sponsor, he would like to go to a 2 car operation. Lazier 2nd driver?
Patrick Racing - Tomas Enge
Jacque Lazier?

If Rahal goes to 3 cars,Danica is likely driver. Is Brack finished?
Rahal-Letterman #1 - Buddy Rice
Rahal-Letterman #2 - Vitor Meira
Rahal-Letterman #3 - Danica Patrick?

No changes, for now.
Team Penske #1 - Helio Castroneves
Team Penske #2 - Sam Hornish Jr.

PDM looks likely to run next year
PDM #1 - Robbie McGhee?

Don't know if Kelley will return.
Kelley Racing #1 - Scott Sharp

Will Aj Foyt Ent. return?
AJ Foyt #1 - AJ Foyt IV

If all these rumors of expansion came true, and my math is correct, we could see a 30 car field next season, and who knows how many for the Indy 500. Of course, not all of this will happen, but it is looking promising right now!

No A.J. Foyt racing GP Racer!

A.J. senior has showed is views on the road courses next year and how much it's going to cost etc. And with A.J. crashing pretty much every race you can't see how quite easier the situation will be!

Thanks luke, I fixed that!

Who knows if he can get a sponsor to replace Conseca. If he can, I'm quite sure he will return.

AJ IV, has picked up his performance of late, and at times has looked downright racy! He's getting better, and he's only 20 years old, and in a terrible car to.

I faught he did well acturaly, as did Mark Taylor, if only that first caution came a few laps earlier than he would have stayed on the lead lap.

GP Racer I think 30 car grids next year is a bit optimistic. Maybe for a couple of races, but not the whole season. If the IRL had an average grid of 26 cars next year (excluding Indy) I'd call that a good improvement.

I was worried ever so slightly that we would sink below 19 after Homestaed although the season did start in February but after Motegi we picked up again.

And 26+ grids would be cosmic!

Sorry for the misunderstanding GP Racer. Although I will say that to expect a lot of cars above 33 at Indy may be still be stretch. But we shall see.

If you look at the current list, I think 26 is realistic....

Fernandez seems likely to add one, and they seem to have the $$$ to do it...

Ditto Ganassi...

Dreyer & Rheinbold seems likely as well...they have stated that intention....

PDM apparently does seem likely to have something together for next year..at least that's what we're hearing...

Also, it seems possible for Rahal to have the third entry as well....but Meira could be the odd-man out as Team Owner told us....

Some questions would be:

Does Foyt get a new sponsor to run full-time???

Where does Sharp go (Panther or Ganassi), and does Kelley go away (the later seems to be the case)

The other possibles -- Nunn, Patrick, Access carrying over two cars into next season -- are the real wild cards in this....

Does Cheever add a car, or does Carpentier replace someone???

Does Nunn add a car and get two drivers (Barron & Carpentier?)

But given the scenarios, 26 could realistically be achieved....

Those are solid numbers.....I'd take them...any day....

26 for the main season and 40 for Indy are realistic but optimistic targets. Extra cars from Fernandez, Ganassi, Access and Cheever all look and sound plausible, and we may yet see some new/defecting teams. Maybe Hemelgarn can find a sponsor/paydriver?

OK, OK, we'll get back on topic... Geez, you stray off topic just alittle bit, and blammo, the mods are all over you!

I've been trying to get on the Kelley Racing web-site as usual, and its gone. It's been replaced by a Ft. Wayne newspaper site. We all knew Kelly was on the fence, and that Delphi was shopping themselves and Scott Sharp around.

So could Kelley Racing have packed it in? Or do you think its something temporary?

If they have "packed it in," maybe they have already been absorbed by Ganassi (since both have Toyota power) and just took the crew and operation under their wing for this last race to begin the transistion for 2005...

BIG "If" here....but after all, this is the "Silly Season" thread....

Wow this is weird. I wonder whats happening?

When I click on, for a split second, the Kelley site comes up, but it is immediately covered over by the Ft Wayne newspaper site.

I'll keep trying I guess...

The team may have some sort of sponsorship or link agreement with the Ft. Wayne Journal-Sentinel...

Tom Kelley is from there...

That's my only guess.....

I agree...that IS wierd...
