Tom took a part into tough battle during 1 lap, then went to pit-lane, made some laps and that's all. Smth mechanical..

As for Paul - there's a bump in the braking area of the 1 turn where he lost his wing.

Nice bit of rude language there from Martin, taking his first win since 2006.

Think this would have happened if it hadn't been for the Zandvoort ruling though?

Black/Orange is not for how much superficial damage you have, but for if there are eg remaining direct dangers of pieces falling off or driver losing control of the car. Eki had no such issues (in fact he even got fastest lap of the race) so a technical flag would have been wrong. Spengler even had a big part hanging off at the back, from the same incident, but DTM usually dont bother too much about those flimsy bits falling off either.

Tom, Jarvis and Paul where fighting for position and Tom went too far out in a corner (pushed?) and lost the back end turning him around and into the barriers at the inside of the corner backwards. Rejoined but quit later, but I guess you saw that part.

Maybe damage from this is what made Pauls wing separate out into orbit later in the race?

Probably, if nothing else because there seems to be a little bad blood between Eki & Scheider and inter team rivalry ever since the race where Eki let past Timo because the team though he passed him during yellow, and when the verification came that Eki did a legal pass Timo ignored letting Eki back ahead of him...

For the same reason I believe, if Eki had managed to get directly behind Martin, my guess is Eki would have "found a way through" but Scheider would still have been stuck behind Martin, but that situation never happened.

Zandvoort was really just too blunt and its easy enough to fake a small mistake that lets a car behind you past. Not something you can ever punish for.

Last2LiftOff, thanks for the 'Das DTM-Rennen von Oschersleben' link in the previous race thread. Finally, a way to watch the DTM! Mind you, I wish I hadn't bothered with the Nurburgring race, 75 minutes of my life I won't get back!
