Forda should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
A little bit more on the auction result, including that the 'Big Banger' had a log book all along:

Christ that’s cheap. Nice track day toy.
I wonder how much the new owner was chewing their fingernails in the last 20 laps.
8 seconds away from owning a Bathurst winner.

There were more than a few cars in Champion's collection that weren't even close to being the real deal as far as Brock raced cars were concerned. For example.....

The Monza, which someone here before identified as the one built for Brock and Alan Jones to race in an IMSA GT street race in Miami in 1982. Well, no, it wasn't that car. The one Champion had has actually been identified as one of the ex-Graham Whincup Monza's. The real Monza that Brock raced was sold at the end of 1983 to Allan Browne of Re-Car. He then put Allan Grice in it in 1984 and Gricey used it to virtually dominate the 1984 Aussie GT Championship. Then after the World Sportscar Race at Sandown where Grice, Dick Johnson and Ron Harrop drove it, Browne sold the car to Bryan Thompson who used it and his twin turbo Mercedes Chev to win the 1985 Aussie GT Championship. Brad Jones also drove both cars for Thompson in 1985 and 1986. In early 1989, Thompson had Peter Fowler change it from a Monza body to a more modern Toyota Supra. He then raced it at a couple of Amaroo AMSCAR meetings (with Mike Raymond telling the TV audience the cars provenance and that it was for sale) before selling it to an unknown buyer in mid-1989. It was then sold in early 1990 to Des Wall who raced it in sports sedans for almost 20 years. Its now owned by his son David Wall and is still a Supra.

Despite what those lame brains at Bertie Street claim, Champion's #05 has been identified (by many including John Harvey and the V8 Sleuth himself Aaron Noonan), to actually be the #25 car that Harvey and David Parsons drove and was later sold to John Farrell in Perth who raced it in the same colours (without Marlboro signage) but as #52 in local events at Wanneroo in 1985-86. The real 1984 Bathurst winner is in the museum at Bathurst.

The 4-Door A9X that Brock supposedly drove in the opening round of the 1978 ATCC on his return to the HDT.....isn't even an A9X!!! Its actually two L34's that had been bolted / welded together in late 1976 by Harry Firth. In fact, half of the car is an L34 that Colin Bond crashed on the top of Bitupave Hill at Amaroo Park in 1976.

The 1982-83 Bathurst winner. Not only has it been presented how it never actually raced, with the 1982 livery and the late 1983 body kit which included the much larger front and rear spoilers, but the HDT sold it after the 1983 Australian Grand Prix (where Larry Perkins drove it to 3rd in the touring car support race behind George Fury's Bluebird which won and Brock who finished 2nd) to Andrew Harris who raced it in K Mart colours as part of Warren Cullen's team in 1984. Harris crashed the car a couple of times during the ATCC and subsequent owners who raced it post-1984 also crashed it. Its been through that many re-builds that there is serious doubt as to just how much of the original VH actually remains.

Then of course there was the dubious claim about Brock's 1989 Sierra which has been covered in this thread.

Seriously, more fool anyone who paid money for cars from Champion's collection because the provenance on a lot of them was extremely dubious.....at best.

An interesting read.

Certainly a case of buyer beware but in regards to the A9X as you saying it wasn't entered or log booked as a A9X in the opening round of the ATCC?

What happened to the Brock/Jones IMSA Monza then?

The 'lame brains' at Bertie Street forums were actually the ones that lead the push to prove that #05 was at the Bathurst museum and did the major investigation which proved it a decade or so ago. They always said that Champion had#25

Mr McMahon has put on the socials that he has purchased the Monza from the Champion museum, and knowing its provenance, intends restoring it to the correct former Whincup colours..
