Is anyone local planning to head up to Knockhill this weekend with a viewpoint outside the circuit?

I'm 40 min driver or so. I'm skipping it. Doesn't seem reasonable to go to an event we're told not to go to.

You’ve not been told not to go to it. The numbers didn’t work so you can’t attend the circuit as an official spectator. 200 are allowed by a silly limit set by the government.
There is no lockdown in Scotland apart from Aberdeen so you aren’t restricted. Just no crowds obviously. Everyone has to social distance. |

Where will you park? Where will everyone else who decides to try having a crack at watching from the hillside park? Who controls that when it goes wrong and cars are strewn all over the surrounding area, blocking roads and being nuisances?
It's on telly. Stay at home, have a beer or two and watch that. Don't put yourself and others at risk by putting a strain on already stretched services which, due to the Scottish Government's restriction on numbers causing the event to be behind closed doors, will have planned for other things this weekend. I know it sounds overblown and reactive, but for everyone's sake, just watch the telly. |

"Just no crowds obviously" Indeed, obviously. So if everyone turned up you'd have a crowd. Watch it on the TV. |

They were allowed to sell tickets, but as the number of people allowed was just 200. As they have 600 season ticket holders alone, plus pre ordered tickets, they felt there was no easy or fair way of deciding who should be allowed entry, so the circuit decided not to have any spectators.

There's a lot of splitting hairs here which end up with the same result: You're not meant to be going to the circuit. So let's all be responsible and watch it on TV. |

Stop splitting hairs to justify it. They aren't taking spectators. Be responsible, watch on TV. |

In the very small parking areas, which are designed to deal with 1 or 2 cars at a time, not irresponsible fans who are all gathering at the same time in an attempt to watch an event that they aren't selling tickets for, which is on TV. If everyone who wanted to go did what's being suggested here then there'd be massive issues. Anyone attempting to turn up to these events is irresponsible.

I'm going to suggest that people wind their necks in and discuss the topic not whether you can watch in person.

There is no parking round about there so get the bus to Steelend or Saline. Next?
This has nothing to do with Knockhill or whether they are allowed spectators or not. It’s a hill which the public can walk on that happens to have a view of the circuit. You can also see the Forth and all around. |

[MOD]Not entirely certain as to the link between the thread title and whether sightseers can view a racetrack. Can we get back on topic or we'll close the thread on the basis that there's nothing further to discuss. [/MOD]

Hopefully we will see the 3rd Beemer out at Thruxton. Especially if PMR can't make it

Personally, I think the smart thing for WSR is to keep the 3rd car under wraps.
With the turnaround between weekends being so short, having a spare car ready to run makes more sense for a title challenge than trying to boost numbers on an already healthy grid. |
