I've thought the same. Regardless of Toyota's performance last week, they've enjoyed years of bop that advantaged them simply because they were running to a different portion of the ruleset than the privateers. Hard to see how the ACO would drop all ego and create a level playing field for a kind of car that wasn't their idea, against a kind of car they would be quicker to call their own.

As part of the LMDh/LMH unification process the hybrid deployment speed for LMH front wheel electric motors was raised to 190kph. The traction advantage LMP1s used to have catapulting out of corners is gone.

Which I confess I'm sad about, it was absolutely spectacular. There was nothing like watching the LMP1s accelerating out of Arnage at Le Mans - quite breathtaking.

Not sure how effectively you can BOP against that except for different tyres for the different platforms Will be interesting to see tire wear amongst cars for this season |

Probably just need to make the LMDh cars 20kg lighter or something. Its all part of the BOP game.
I actually really liked back in WTCC when they could have a manual dog gearbox and save 25kg of min weight. I'd have loved to have seen a LMH with a manual 6 speed or something, and then be lighter. Last edited by Sodemo; 21 Mar 2023 at 12:25. |

Those were the days when P2s had to do 50% more fuel stops so even the odd 1 hour mechanical issue wasn’t really a problem for an LMP1 verses a P2 Catching up after WE away - did the Toyotas have a speed advantage over the IMSA GTPs too (with more experienced teams than some of the WEC teams against Toyota). Very little lap time info on Eurosport - would be god to see average time of each car (top 80% or so of laps to get rid of in and out and safety cars stuff etc) now and then |

On a track with faster corners they wouldn’t be so traction limited since the front tyres would take more of the load in the high speed corners. For tracks like Monza and Lemans though with slow speed traction, you would probably get more rear tyre wear.

I would hazard a guess though that we would likely still see an advantage for the Toyota in terms of consistency/times within some percentage of their fastest race lap just because of the higher density of cars at the IMSA race, although it will still be interesting to see how the best times compared. |

DHH posted the top 30 laps by driver. Spoiler alert, 6 of the top 7 top 30 lap times are Toyota drivers indicating pretty clear pace advantage for the car. Antonio Fuoco showing he's an absolute star in the Ferrari, 2nd best average and the only driver amongst the Toyota crew. |

As you’d expect from the most experienced drivers from the most experienced team with hours of relevant race data.
I’ll be very surprised if it’s a similar story at Spa. |

2nd Ganassi Cadillac for Spa + Jota Porsche now listed in HY (as announced). Overall pretty much the same as Sebring and Portimao but said additions tip the entry number scale in favor of Hypercar over P2 for the first time in a long, long time!

April Fools' Day, a day when it is tradition (and expected) for people to try to fool each other with pranks or convince others that stories are true.
The jokes themselves can vary from subtle, to outrageous, depending on the intended audience and reach. |
