I was stood more or less opposite the rock that Mikkelson hit. Mikkelson looked a little sheepish but apart from that driver and co-driver totally unhurt (except maybe for early stages of hypothermia by the time they were picked up
 ).Someone had the brilliant idea of putting a bale a few metres ahead of the rock. Presumably they thought that might stop competitors hitting the rock but instead they just succeeded in shielding it from view! Would have been better to leave the rock but paint it flourescent yellow or drag it out of the way altogether (Mikkelson did that job for them as it happens - that was a big rock, and the impact sent it a good 20 metres off the stage!  )

i was a little bit earlier in the halfway stage and mikkelson looked more than just a little commited when he passed us, tail flying right out through the corner, shame he couldnt keep that level of commitment up for the next 10 corners!

I have to say star of the rally has to Latvala, he has had to Super Rally after problems on Friday. He if hadn't had to do that the he would been in the Top 3.

He was certainly the most committed through Halfway - came over the first crest completely sideways and somehow gathered it before Mikkelson's rock!

I was there on Fri and Sat, saw Talbot 1, Rheola 2, Halfway 1 and 2, so probably would have seen some other 10/10thers there. My friend and I had a great time despite getting saturated on Friday (he had no waterproof pants).

Whatever happened to rally cars blowing head gaskets,loosing wheels complete with half shafts. Con rods deciding they had enough and showing it by punching exit holes on the sides of engine blokes? Seems to me nowadays it's all predictable.
