not sure, but this from autosport:

Quote:
Testing of the new car has already began - an initial run on October 11 took place at a French racing school near Magny-Cours, before two weeks of testing on the former F1 track.

The series is planning more tests to "ensure that a reliable car will be delivered to the teams".

The first car for each team will be delivered in mid-January, followed by their second and third machines in February.

There will be an initial group shake-down in February - with one car per team allowed to participate - for drivers to acclimatise to the new machinery.
the car is far too far away from how f3 cars look at the moment, which is pretty disappointing. it just seems to be an evolution of the gp3 car?

This car and these new series give bad name to F3. Shame on you FIA.

I wonder what will happen to the Macau FIA F3 World Cup. The sensible thing is to keep everything the same, allow DTM Euro F3, Spain Euroformula and Japanese F3 drivers take part in Dallara F31X cars.

But I think it cannot carry on with the FIA F3 World Cup moniker. Maybe it needs a name change.

In 2019 the EuroFormula organiser will open the series to the F3 by DTM cars.

Autosport says Macau could host the 2019 FIA F3 season finale. But the Macau organizers want to keep the race for current F3 cars, because the new cars carry more momentum. Sophia Florsch's accident means Macau does not want the new F3 cars.

In order to run new F3 cars Macau needs to make track changes and upgrade to FIA Grade 2. Macau does not want to make the changes. FIA and Macau will talk more.

I think Macau does not want to change because of historical reasons as well as real difficulty. The place is packed with buildings and if a corner needs to be widened or something they might have to take down a building or something on a similar scale. Also I agree I don't think cars faster than the current F3 cars should run at Macau, it will be too dangerous.

GT cars also shouldn't run at Macau but the organizers love them so they keep going back. Already this year we saw that Honda, Ferrari and Bentley have stayed away from the event.

We cannot deny that F3 and Macau have a shared history, as many people, whether he/she is a motorsport fan or not, can point out Macau is running F3 cars. So this cannot be ruled, and that's why the organizer leave a space to keep this possibility remain open. It is not a easy task to do, and we have to wait and see

Both options are valid. We will have a long winter of discussions. We're all stumbling in the dark and that makes for some very interesting collisions.

If you would read one thing or two he would know why Honda, Ferrari and Bentley don't go to Macau. And it is not cause they are afraid of the speed.

Perhaps an F4 International Cup or something along the lines could replace the F3 Grand Prix, given the tracks' grading.

nah. think about an average f4 budget, and then think about how much more it'd be to do macau.

in all honesty, i think there's going to be plenty of euroformula/masters/whatever it's called spec f3 cars for macau to be able to stick with those cars. sounds like pau is going for euroformula, and there's a heck of a lot of positive noise here about it.

standard disclaimers apply, but euroformula itself has been a cost-effective way of using a great car. not sure about the cost of the mich tyres versus the hankooks?

When did Ferrari factory team and Bentley had massive shunts in Macau? What is this related to F3 future in Macau anyway?

Oh yeah, they desperately wanted to come but somehow couldn't?

There is no way they will be able to race cars faster than the existing F3 cars around Guia. The new F3 cars can DRIVE around Guia, but to RACE is a different matter.

If the GT cars can RACE, why the new F3 wouldn't master Asa?

The major concern is the new F3 car are much faster than the current ones, many fans still marred by Sophia's horrific accident, that the circuit cannot facilitate a faster car.

Because the new F3 cars are faster and lighter than GT cars. The new F3 cars have approximately 380bhp vs the old cars with 210 bhp.

Anyway, looks like the new F3 cars will race in Macau this November.

https://macaudailytimes.com.mo/mdt-e...eries-car.html

According to sources heard by the Macau Daily Times, a decision has already been made. The 2019 Formula 3 Macau Grand Prix and FIA F3 World Cup, to be held in Macau between November 17 and 19 this year, will present the same cars debuting this year at the FIA Formula 3 Championship.

Maybe they will keep the title of FIA F3 World Cup. That means the top drivers from the championship plus invited drivers from other series.

I wonder if they will have to make changes to the Guia Circuit for these much more powerful cars.
