Well it was good to see H back, if only temporarily. He didn't deserve for his BTCC career to end with 888 going under after all the work he did

Fuller's website lists GKR Scaffolding as his 'Sponsor' (funny no plural for a living legend) so at least they wont have to remove the stickers from Bobby's car.

no he was filling in for micky sargent the team manager.
paul ridgeway was the chief engineer last year and doesnt work for bmr any more

They're a new team to the BTCC, with 2 drivers also new, with arguably the worst car on the grid. Think Rob Smith has managed P16 or not far off so I'd say that's pretty good going.

Hopefully they'll bring their intended new builds onto the grid for 2020, and attract an experienced driver alongside Smith.

They've made no "we'll win races and the championship in our first year" style comments, everything has been pragmatic and reflective and based on learning. I think they're doing exactly what a new entrant should, keeping their PR mouth shut and getting on with it.

They're here for the long haul, one would hope, and given their comprehensive experience (and success) in other classes I for one wish them well and hope they'll get up the front once in a while.

They are doing a bit better than I expected. Before Thruxton I think both drivers were ahead of Matt Simpson. Rob Smith coming close to points is an encouraging sign

Same things were discussed about Excelr8 a few pages back. Nothing has changed so why are certain people so convinced they're going to fail?

Excelr8 are a superb team who build all of the Mini JCW cars and essentially run that championship (alongside several other projects), which of course is joining the TOCA package next year. They’re a highly professional outfit and this season is very much a development year for the team. They’ve made no secret of their plans to build their own car in the future and if you look at what they’ve achieved with the Minis there’s no reason to think such a move would be anything other than a great success. They’ve made reference to wanting to work with a British marque in the future; nobody knows who this could be yet but in an interview given to an MG enthusiasts magazine earlier this year it was stated that preliminary talks had been held with MG about introducing a new MG model to the BTCC.

Unsure why their results to date would indicate anything about Kia/Jackson or under-performance against their targets?

Now that Plato is getting amongst the points again, are Excelr8 the new target for attempted ridicule?

I think he's been wearing glasses when driving for quite a while, it's just that last year (for example) he hardly warranted interviewing on the grid so you've maybe forgotten...

I know Excelr8 are progressing with a plan that involves brand new build cars with hopefully financial backing from a maker.

This really is a touchy feely see how the BTCC is and build up from nothing. Rather than the bull we've heard so often about how new Team X is going to win. From day 1.

Maybe JPs eye sight was part of his lack of competitiveness? Clearly it is not so now.
