Question from old time Amaroo - Alzheimer's test

I recall from a very long time ago (mid 80's??) a 7 commentator mentioning that there was some altercation in the paddock area after a race that turned into some kind of demo derby.

Back in the day there was no where for me to find out exactly what happened and it sank to the bottom of the memory pile, but that memory happened to resurface and now with the advent of technology i can ask on this forum.

does anyone recall this that cares to enlighten me after all this year? or did i miss hear what was said and it was something completly different?

The Battle of Amaroo Park? 1976 ATCC round, first lap clash between Bond and Grice perhaps.

Perhaps Grice and Steve Masterton during the AMSCAR series in '83?

I think you might be refering to the Allan Grice-Tony Longhurst incident....i recall it was a heated argument after the race, broken up by Frank Gardner, who used an umberella like a ninja sword to break it up.

It was in the Alfa race. LOnghurst after the race reckoned Grice could give it out but not take it. It went to court and from memory took years to settle. The prize- an Alfa car, was sold soon after it was won. Years later, when asked what he thought of Frank Gardener, Grice said that since his mother had told him if you have not got anything nice to say about someone, best not to say anthing. He then apparently said he had nothing at all to say about Frank Gardener.
