Classic Comalco Sport Sedan footage Amaroo
I tried to find the Historic SS thread to post this in but I lost it.
I found some classic SS footage from the 1981 Comalco series at Amaroo and thought you guys might like to see it. Dad had lots of these on tape but someone taped over them. Keen spotters will note that this was George Fury's first curcuit event with the Stanza that lead to the development of the Bluebird as a track car. Although I think Dad wishes he wasn't there! PS. sorry for the crap editing. 94mb AVI file |

Awesome Dave, thanks! Well before my time, but brings back memories of my first race meeting. Dad took me to Amaroo when I was knee-high to a grasshopper, a JPS Lotus (maybe?) open-wheeler of some sort went round sounding totally awesome and I was hooked.

Awsome effort there David!!
I'm thinking i was there as a little tacker in the kids playground near stop/go!! I'm glad that i was able to eventually race at Amaroo in its final years in the group N car. To this day it still one of my favourite tracks, (Bathurst is my other favorite! ) the danger, the up and down nature, and being built in a natural ampetheatre made it quite unique, and i still miss the place, being ten years since the last meeting this year. You don't happen to have any Appendix J footage from the early eighty's do you???? |

No other footage, this is all that survived.
The kids playground at Amaroo was a great breeding ground for racers. By '81 I was a bit too old and was promoted to cheif timekeeper but I spent a few years in there with some now famous names. |

Thanks for posting it up, great footage and a track we dont get to see anymore makes it even better. Commentary seems funny compared to these days with all the technology. Cheers!

Fantastic! I'd forgotten what a blind corner (Honda I think) was with that huge ridge of dirt on the inside before hitting the straight
