well true but I heard they were really interested in fully sponsoring a car in the V8's. but when someone turns your back to you, you'd be put off aswell, wouldn't blame them for being annoyed.

Yep Speedcafe are the most reliable compared to others, funny reading it tho. they done it as a way to stop or reduce hooning around the Gold Coast area, it doesn't really matter though aye, no burnouts between races, fine no worries as Frosty will do one after he wins on Sunday..

If I recall... listening to Bathurstscan... the officials had a major problem clearing the burnout participants from the track, on at least 2 occasions over the Bathurst weekend?

#6 Will davison/Salo topped times sheets today, and #5 coming in 3rd. still early but good sign for FPR this weekend.

from v8 supercar facebook

Quote:
V8 Supercars is disappointed that unfortunate and inaccurate media reports have led to people believe ‘burnouts’ have been excluded from this weekend’s event on the Gold Coast, and reassures our passionate fans that this form of entertainment is still a part of the weekend schedule.

The facts are that the stunt team and the FMX team will perform as they always have, and the winning driver on Sunday will be able to do a ‘burnout’ following the last race, as has always been the case.

The Gold Coast 600 is an event that includes on-track and off-track entertainment from 9am to 9pm every day right across the track, offering something for all. These include the best on-track support categories in the country including the Carrera Cup, V8 Utes, Australian GT Series and the Aussie Racing Cars.

People attend events to enjoy all of these aspects, including free concerts at the Broadwater Parklands on Friday and Saturday nights, headlined this weekend by international megastars Good Charlotte, Australia’s world renowned The Living End and one of the country’s biggest artists 360, plus supporting artists including local Gold Coast band Nine Sons of Dan.

It is the biggest and best value sporting and entertainment event in Queensland, and one that some 180,000 people will enjoy and have a great three-day party.

The Gold Coast 600 is an event that all of our fans are, and should be, enormously proud of, and one that is critical to the Gold Coast and Queensland. V8 Supercars is renowned internationally as the world’s best touring car category, something that the world’s best drivers who are here this weekend will attest to.

V8 Supercars wants everybody who attends on the weekend have a great time and enjoy themselves.

Which teams will be floundering?

My guess is that that #1, #888, #5, #6 and #55 will be up the pointy end as usual. I think the surprises will be from those normally seen from position 20 and beyond.

Impressed with Heidfeld considering how little experience he has had with tintops.

Probably as much because he was complete and utter rubbish, had a bad attitude and charged through the nose.

The other teams would probably be happy for him to race here again given he was so bad.

They received a set of new softs to allow the foriegners to experience them. They are allowed to also use them in practice Friday but then are to returned to Dunlop.

So Marc Lieb has led both sessions for Tekno, nice pick there Jono!

Dead last in both sessions is Max Papis in #17, more than 2 seconds off the front.

DJR cars in 24th, 27th & 28th, ouch.

Top ten comprises Lieb, Ryan Briscoe, Simon Pagenaud, Stephane Sarrazin, Richard Lyons, David Brabham, Mika Salo, Sebastien Bourdais, Lucas di Grassi and Nick Heidfeld.
