Trevor should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Will NEVER happen, they have TV and sponsor responsibilities, as well as helicopters, staff, RAAF, sppecial guests, politicians, etc, etc, etc. At smaller meetings absolutely a possibility but not an event of this size

Well maybe they need to focus on their core business - RACING CARS - a bit more then, rather than all the show-boating rubbish.

I've never understood having the Air Force fly overs, can't really see how it adds anything to the program either. If they really wanted to incorporate the Armed Forces, they'd be better to have the Army driving over a few cars with tanks, and they could have static displays at the venue too and try to recruit a few people. Pretty hard for the Air Force to do that with a flyover..............

In it's current format, and moreso with the way the event officials are running it, it is clearly not working, because we're having this discussion, instead of raving about how great the racing was on the weekend.......

the 'show boating rubbish' is what pays for the circus to come to town, you need to forget that this is a sport and need to understand it is a 'business', making money for the shareholders is their primary objective

Yet NASCAR has done it and they have all sorts of nonsense pre-race.

To be fair, some of it does some of it doesn't.

Things like the Virgin flyovers you would expect to be bound up with sponsorship, less so the RAAF.

I dont think anyone has found a way of getting money out of the national anthem.

But much of the stuff is surely just filler, like it is at, say the cricket or the football or any other sport.

cricket or football does not have as much down time while the event is running

Didn't Delta sing it on the Bathurst grid a couple of years ago after singing her latest single? Either a money deal or quid pro quo

Usually the event pays the 'star' an appearance fee and transport/accommodation. If the star sings a song to plug a new album, I think the appearance fee is usually forfeited. These days it's usually the host broadcaster using one of their celebs for cross promotion.

Perhaps Mr Adderton could spend another $2500 on some spelling lessons...

It probably looks better coming from Mr Adderton, rather than Mr Moffat, particularly with the whole SST debacle.

Watching MotoGP qualifying live now ( Saturday ). It's absolutely pouring down, as it tends to do in the afternoon in Malaysia. So the organisers have just put out a notice that all warm-ups tomorrow ( race day Sunday ) will be brought forward 1 hour, and the all races will be brought forward 2 hours, to hopefully get them done before it rains. If the World Championship, with a world wide audience and sponsors, and multiple TV deals all across the planet, can do it, surely some local hick taxi racing series can adjust the schedule to accommodate the weather??

Exactly. And the Moto GP/2/3 bikes we are talking about three world championship classes.
