I hate this strategy of picking up a LM invite, then talking and talking and talking and making a lot of noise about accepting the invite and entering the race, only to pull the plug within days of the entry announcement (or even weeks after and denying someone at least a place on the reserve list).

Weird, isn't it? Surely IMSA/ACO must sound these teams out before nominating them. No doubt the Taylors would love to run a family team at LM but they don't have an eligible car or a crew with the relevant experience so what chance was there, really?
As Victor says, at least they have bumped someone up the reserve list already and made some space at the bottom. |

Dyson, Viper, ESM (before) and Pickett gave the same crap excuse when they folded their auto invites Simmi.
Some people elsewhere are commenting that IMSA should have given it to Shank instead now that he actually owns suitable car. But if he has no interest [for this year] and/or money why would they have. And in any case Shank, just like anyone could've still asked for entry without the auto invite |

It is a shame they are a very strong team and we would have loved to have seen them at Le Mans but as said by Victor plenty of time for another entry to sort things out rather than be sitting on the reserve list wondering if they will get to race

It begs the question what there is left for the ACO and IMSA to continue their current relationship: a lot of American teams are publicly dreaming of competing at Le Mans but are somehow unable to run in ACO races/series and there's hardly any interest from Euro or Asian teams to run in the US anymore. Instead, one or two more WEC races in North America (US/Canada/Mexico) would make up for (at least a considerable part) of the loss of the current, partially ACO rules driven series. Time to cut the ties and each to go their own way. (It would also make the solution for a more appealing prototype class easier.) Sorry for drifting of topic.... |

The ever continuing Detroit clash doesn't help US prototype prospects either.

Looks like there will be one Brit less in the GT battle. Westbrook being moved aside for Briscoe - http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/117489

The Feb 5 press conference start time has been confirmed to be at 3 PM (doesn't specify time zone but would think local = CET):
http://www.24h-lemans.com/en/news/24...746_18538.html Dailymotion has been more reliable for the past few years than it used to be and in any case ACO will reupload the vid later if you cannot see it live. RLM will obviously do it as well like always even if it doesn't show up on their schedules Last year was extremely bizarre if you remember it, they spend ages and ages wasting time introducing that French celebrity host, whoever he was, and then other boring dialogue before they finally went for entries. You know the reason of the conference! And then the ELMS entries came out with quick but still relatively alright pace - however when it was time for Le Mans and WEC it was all rushed down in hurry. Couple of minutes max. And that was because they were literally showing off their own brief marketing video instead of doing it like in the past, with 'good old' powerpoint presentations Last edited by Deleted; 29 Jan 2015 at 01:27. |

If Ibanez/Wolf are putting in a pair of ELMS entries and two LM entries - with the intended outcome to be a new P2 car on the grid next year - I'd expect the ACO to throw them one invite plus a reserve.
http://www.dailysportscar.com/2015/0...ez-racing.html The battle just got a bit more intense for LMP2 entries. |

as always with press conferences, actual things are learnt by individuals collaring the key speakers afterwards and cross questioning them for their own benefit |

(Edit: can't find a source for Risi pulling out) and it seems Craft Bamboo are concentrating on WTCC

Anyway, this conference hadn't been that leisurely conducted in the past until last year, not that I can remember. |

The Super GT calendar has been revised to avoid a clash with the LM test day. That's good sense.

DSC ages late with that news. And the move had nothing to do with wanting to avoid Test Day, the Thai circuit wishing for new date and then re-arranging the logistics were the real reasons. But it is for good.

I know 2015 entry list is about to be announced, and not sure if we have a 2016 speculation thread yet... but...
I've just seen an advert for the sale of a Radical Cup car... reason for selling: "being sold to help finance new opportunity - selected together with Derek Bell's son to pilot new Bentley GT3, target 2016 24 Le Mans" |

I thought the common GT rules (GTE+GT3) for 2016 had fallen through?

I'm actually hoping one of the Team AAI entries gets cancelled so the Viper will be at Le Mans.

I'm hoping it'll be one of the three AF Corse GTE-Am entries that drop out instead of an AAI Porsche.
