Are circuits pricing out Club Motorsport?
If you want to test over the winter you seem to be restricted to semi exclusive and a cost over over £500.
Are MSV pricing out the club racer? |

Doesn't Mallory do test mornings or afternoons for a reasonable price, £100 or so?

I have an Open wheel car and after next week there is very little that is not semi exclusive.
Not interested in Mallory... |

Can't blame them can you. On the whole it's a summer sport, they need some time to refresh circuit and surroundings and TBQH there's probably going to be few takers. It'll only take a cold, miserable day and no-one'll turn up which will mean total loss for them.
So my answer to the question is: NO. Circuits are just making club racers come at more suitable times. |

Not one of the more well known circuits but very friendly and reasonably priced:

Track & Race Car magazine has a monthly diary which covers all the available UK track time - have a look through that and I'm sure you'll get something suitable if it's available.

nobody normally does much testing until around February anyway. The teams that do can normally afford the semi exclusive price. Everyone else is too busy fettling through the winter to get the car in top condition for next season.

Ship your car to NZ.... Test days about £30 -£40 ... One day race entry, practice and 3 races, £50-£60, for two day entry fee but same number of races, occasionally an extra race but up to 12 race groups from F5000, historics, historic F/F & FJ, through a host of saloon, sports and GT classes...
Come over in January or February and there is racing galore and you could save a fortune and cover the costs of your airfare and shipping the car compared to a season in the UK! |

You probably wouldn't. NZ has more racing licence holders per capita than any other country, 5450 out of a population of 4 million. Seven race tracks and plenty of championships and racing. It's impressive for the size of the country how much they have going on there.

...and the new Hampton Downs track is now up and running!
Opened Nov 15th (2009) and we ran our first classic meeting last weekend. Six classes on Sunday, 6 grids of 30 cars (maximum currently allowed until FIA have inspected the track). 3 races per group. Magic! Entry fee for the one day - $150NZ - so that is about £60 I think... Brilliant track and watch the facility grow over the coming years. Hopefully, the owners will not do what places like Mallory Park, Silverstone and Donington did to the Nottingham Sports Car Club years ago... Freeze out all the local organising clubs and run all the meetings themselves. Somehow, I don't think they will, as both owners are keen classic and historic racers themselves.
