And the Kazato 722 from Gerry Wainwright to Jim Bennet and myself (raced once at Brands superprix) and then to Jim in Colorado. The car was in quite superb condition when it came to us.

Oddities such as Chevron B18s and B20s I'm adding to the threads as I find them but Marches are much more complex. Interested in your 742-19 for Mamers. His car arrives in 1975 and is said to be ex-BP. Is that consistent? Allen |

Mamer's car is described as ex Paoli by MN in 1975 F2 report and that corresponds to 19 in 1974 observations, so it stacks up well.

Drifty, I don't recall 'Rolf Halley'. Vaguely rings a bell tho', perhaps Ralph Halley??? OTOH he did Scottish Prodsaloons in the later 70s. I suspect the car is one of the Barton/Dickson bitza Libre cars from the 70s too.
No idea on the Horsham car, a Sprinter/climber maybe, I can't recall too many Southern based Libre Marches of that era. |

Ive no idea who was in the sussex/surrey area with Libre F2 march but i suspect its a sprinting car with the 1700 bda power thats a steve wilkinson question!! |

Dermot, other than that 722-36 was almost certainly an FB car I can offer nothing. However, even the build record, if we had it, would only tell us, probably that it was sold by Joe Grimaldi.
What else do you have with the car? SCCA log book for part of its history? Real bodywork rather than replica? Even if you've got 75B series bodywork that these cars were usually updated with that might help. What's important is perhaps not just the top coat, but the succession of colours back to the gel coat Scrutineers stickers on the tub? or tubs? Whereabouts in the US did you get the car from? How long had it been there? All of this might [and I stress might] help us to get a lead on the car back to some results. American 722s a bit of a mare because there were an awful lot of them and no one noted chassis numbers in use in the way F1R did in Britain with F3 for example. There were at least 19 722s sent to America, probably more, and I can tie three first users to chassis numbers, with one of those probably wrong... Chris Chris |

Nick Overall lived in East Horsley. I have him as racing a Surtees TS8 in 1974 and a Brabham BT36 in 1975. Haven't come across a March yet.

Allen, Steele Dixon Trophy Libre race, Silverstone April 79. Nick Overall is entered in a 'March 772 Cosworth', 1700cc apparently. Non-started tho'. As did Paul Gardner in a '762 Hart' (the Jim Evans car maybe from '78??)
O/T, but in the same race, David Hipperson enters, but non-starts, a Mclaren M10B. |

Bonnin DNQ at Hockenheim 11.4.76, Vallelunga 9.5.76, Enna 25.7.76 there were two Brambilla cars, or does Bonnin buy/build another one?

Echappement only says it's an ex-Bonnin 742, not that it's 732-5 of course. Maybe Bonnin acquired both ex-Brambilla cars and sells one on.

When you talked to Adriano Parlamento, did you ever discuss his March F2 car? He raced in in French hillclimbs in 1975 (when it was called a 742), in 1976 (whne it was called a 732 or a 722) and in 1977 (when it was called a 742 or a 732). Allen |

I 've searched this thread for Mieusset and seen that he had a 742 so I'll add this in the hope I am not repeating what has already been said.

I'm still struggling to account for all the March 742s in French hillclimbs. The original cars to arrive (March/April 1974) were:
A Blue one - Jimmy Mieusset A White one - Pierre Maublanc then sold a few weeks later to Philippe Hesnault A White one - Hervé Bayard A darker one - Régis Péchaire An orange one - delivered 20 April to Maublanc replacing his white one. (also Jean Lapierre had a '742' which was a 732 updated) Echappement says of Maublanc's new car (following a comment about Martin being sceptical of his chances because his engine was so new) Quote:
Anyone know what sort of changes the factory made to the 742 early in 1974? How important were they to perforrmance and could it have made sense for Maublanc to buy a second car so soon? Allen |

Jimmy M car was sold at goodwood auction last year restored in 98 with BDG
732 & 742 under the body look the same but front wishbones are different angles but tub uprights etc are the same rear wing basket and oil tank is different 742 had long and short noses for high speed circuits they fitted the longer nose " Rasta" nose MRS selling car so soon? was he the agent? maybe sold off a car due to impatient customer "wants"? |

Yes, I saw it and wasn't at all sure it was the Mieusset car. The history was all wrong after Mieusset as his original 1974/75 car went to Fredy Roland for 1976/77 and nowhere near Roland Solomon.
When did the 742s move from nose rad to side rads? The Hesnault car has a short nose and a water pipe running down the outside of the car. How big a change is it? |
