Ariel Atom Mk1
I am trying to find out what the Mk1 version of the Ariel atom is like. I am looking to buy a used atom, which is a nightmare in itself but does anyone know anything about the first version. The reason i ask is that i know how much change was added to make the Mk2 version. Is it worth me waiting until i can get a Mk2?
Also any ideas on where i can find second hand atoms (excluding the makers)? |

No idea where you'll track one down - specialist motoring or motorsport press I suppose.
I do remember reading Top Gear and Evo articles on it, both of which suggested the Mk 1 was somewhat fundamentally flawed handling-wise. I always think that kind of thing is rather subjective though, and surely with such a car you can tweak the set up yourself. I think they're a great looking thing - a real fresh approach to the road legal trackday car. Good luck, and let us know how you get on! |

I saw one on the road on saturday, it looked wonderful and the driver was clearly having a blast. I've read the Autocar/Evo articles and as garcon say's they felt there were some issue's handling wise that were fixed in the Mk2 but I guess you really need to drive one to see if it suits or not. |

There is an Atom forum on the Pistonheads.com forums, which seems fairly busy. That might be a good place to ask similar questions.
